As Sean said, the price paid for your machine was a rip off. And it's sad because in the end, people are willing to pay for something that should be good and works as advertised but the devil is always in the details.
It depends on how recent the purchase was. I've noticed a disturbing trend of increasing prices for gaming laptops from reputable online specialist retailers like powernotebooks and agearnotebooks. A few years go you could have gotten one of the lower end MSI or Asus gaming laptops for around $800-$900, but today the lower end models are priced several hundred dollars higher. Retailers like Xotic PC only offer laptops with Intel HD graphics for lower prices. I suspect this is because we've reached a point where gaming laptop hardware components are beginning to outpace the demands of high end PC games which means the old addage of shorter lifespan for gaming laptops versus gaming desktops is going to become less true.

Video game software developers can only push the demands on PC resources so far and when you look at the amount of detail on games like Arkham City and Skyrim maxed out with visual improvement mods, it's hard to imagine developers being able to do much more. MMOG's can push the envelope further but the developers generally are reluctant to do this because they know it will reduce their consumer base (too much of the performance demands would be on the server side which can't be compensated by client side settings). This is why a conscious decision to dumb down the graphics for The Old Republic was largely based on keeping the demographic that could play the game larger. The graphics were vastly inferior to those of the game trailers produced by Blur Studios (contrasted to the graphics being identical in the game and the trailers for Mass Effect 3).

What all this is that means there will be fewer purchases of new gaming laptops as the practical lifespan of the gaming laptop is going to increase by several years at this rate. I suspect this is why prices for gaming laptops have been going up.

I can't believed I paid 30 dollars to play for 60 days of TOR, I mean god, that was dumb.

I love skyrim for xbox! I thought nothing was better, until....... I found console commands and mods. Sigh! I still love it for the 360 but just wish for mods! Other than that I see no problem with consoles! :)

I didn't read this whole thread but I've played both (mostly console by a wide, wide margin) and though I can see how one might see console Skyrim as vanilla when compared to what can be done on a PC, there is still plenty of room to be creative on the console. Personally, I'd rather work for my creativity than have a mod spoon feed it to me. I don't really need mods to feel immersed. Just more busy work I'm not really interested in.

I wouldn't say it sucks, just that it's not as good as PC. I played on PS3 from the day the game came out to July 14th of last year. The game was riddled with bugs and eventually I got sick of it and moved to PC. All of the problems I've encountered on PC have been my own fault.

I am disappointed the lack of replies to this
Its not so much lack of replies its just that we console players deal with u spoiled rich pc fanboy trolls so often that most of us have grown immune to your bashing, we just ignore u now. lol

This is hilarious.

There is just no justice left in this world. -_-

On the contrary I'd say that justice has been dealt quite fairly.

Lol, this thread is pretty pointless. There is no question, no debating that Skyrim is superior on a "high end" pc. Mods always make games more fun and improve upon them as you get the creative input and creations of the fans. I for one play Skyrim on my Xbox because I can't afford a high end pc. The mortgage and bills come first. I used to do pc gaming but that became too expensive. I found myself constantly upgrading when new games came out and I wanted better performance. Now I just sit in my beanbag chair with a glass of Johnnie Walker Red Label in front of my 42" widescreen and have fun.

I play on ps3, so I don't have mods. I wish I did sometimes, because I'd like to mod myself a huge house and maybe make a farm.

Meh. I've always found that people who use too many mods end up turning Skyrim into a cross between insane Candyland and Anime-Hugeboob-Gothville.

I actually have a high end PC and still play Skyrim on a PS3. It is your opinion that consoles suck. My opinion is that I like it on my couch with a 65" HDTV, PS3, and a cold soda

They both have their places.

For me, I don't feel a game as long and involved as Skyrim would be a good type of game to play on a console. And since most of the big games for consoles seem to be shooters and racers, which I don't play, I don't have a console (I had a PS3 years ago which mostly was used to play Blue Ray movies, but gave it to my nephew).

With Skyrim, once you get beyond the fact a PC can drive the game at higher resolutions and frame rates simply because of higher-end PC hardware and start comparing versions, you find the PC version of Skyrim is a crappy console port that sucks unless you use a controller and / or mod the hell out of the game.

The only thing I dislike about consoles is the business behind the console platforms, and especially where that has led developers such as Bethesda to decide it is ok to develop (and dumb down) games entirely for consoles then as an afterthought do a crappy port to the PC platform instead of developing and optimizing for each platform.

I burned up 4 - $1000.00 computers in 6 yrs Playing WOW ..... My X-Box 360 has been running 5 yrs and not one breakdown. It comes down to MONEY for me . I can't justify how much P.C. costs and how much trouble they are with all that Mod crap.
