Talia grinned, "In a way." How would phrase the fact that she was investigating a bunch of dead burnt bodies when she found the letter. "The letter wasn't from the council. It was from other bandits." She took it out of her carry bag, opening it up. "The letter was addressed to another bandit...I took it from him, of course." Talia read over the letter once more. How had it managed to get to Skyrim? Mail must have been monitored.

"In a way? That sounds interesting. I'm Ardin Wolf's-bane, by the way. Looks like council has been busy. Where do you hail from Talia? I imagine you have an interesting story or two. I come from Skyrim. Well specifically Falkreath. guess this whole council thing important enough to draw people from such far away places." Ardin then sat down next to the two women, but still keeping his sword hand ready incase. What in the blazes was that Altmer doing here. Could he be here for the same reason? I don't like the looks of him. His mind was thinking of the reasons the Altmer could be there, but the only important thing is seeing the council.

"Now that we are all acquainted, maybe now would be a good time to see the council?"

Talia smiled, "I'm specifically from Shor's Stone, but my true home is Riften." Talia hated Shor's Stone through and through, and she avoided all the chances that would ever lead her there. "We can share the stories of our lives after we meet the council," Talia said. Well that sounded rude. Talia quickly corrected herself, "Your stories must be interesting, and I would want to hear them on our trip to Elsweyr. I want to be paying full attention when we share our experiences." That sounded a little better. And an awful lot more polite. A grin tugged at the corners of Talia's mouth as she looked once more at the Altmer. He looked pretty posh. Talia shook the though away, stretching a little. She agreed that it was time to go to the council, but she wanted to make sure that Ria also felt the need to head in.

"Yes, we'd better not keep them waiting much longer." Ria got up, gripped Ardin's arm again and walked into the Tower with him and Talia.
As they walked through the maze of corridors inside the Tower, Ria reflected on what had happened. It appeared she would be travelling to Elsweyr with the two of them, and she was glad of the company. Especially Ardin's company. So far, Talia seemed as though she would be a strong friend. And Ardin, well... she obviously had feelings for him, and by the looks of it, the same was true for him, so it looked as though Ardin could end up being... more than a friend. And she was happy about it.
The trio finally reached the Council's chambers, right at the summit of the spire.
"Well, here we are." All three seemed nervous, doubtful. Ria decided someone had to get them inside, so it might as well be her. "Come on," she said, tugging on Ardin's arm and jerking her head in the direction of the door. "We'd better go in." So the three of them walked into the Council room, and stood in a line in front of the eight members of the council; one from each region of Tamriel, excluding the Summerset Isles. Ria let go of Ardin's arm, and put her hands behind her back, straightening herself up.
"Greetings, friends. You must be Rianele Ashsmith," the Imperial Councillor said. "It appears you've brought some friends."
The Dunmer Councillor looked over Ardin and Talia, who were standing either side of Ria. "You two; why are you here? Unless I am mistaken, you were not summoned."

"Unless I'm mistaken, you have sent for me to take care of your loose criminals." Ardin pulled out the bounty scripts. "Besides these are my friends, and Ms. Ashsmith needed help carrying her things. Now, by the looks of it you don't have the biggest group of people here. You all know what I can do, so I'm surprised at this greeting. But I digress. Ria, looks like this is my stop. Where do you want me to put your things? Oh and it was great meeting the two of you, girls. Oh and councilors, summon me when you need me. " If they need him, they will summon him, or find a way to do so. If they don't however, that won't stop him from joining them on their adventures.

Ria called after Ardin desperately, hoping to stop him going. "Ardin! Don't! I want you to come with us!"

"You heard the council, Ria. They need you, not me. It was great meeting you and maybe our paths will cross again." Ardin grabbed her hand to hold it, while whispering something in her ear."Fate has a funny way of showing itself." Ardin then put her things down, pet sand, Shook Talia's hand, then said departed from the council. He needed sometime outside. After finding his way out, he sat on the steps for a bit. "Man, the Imperial City big. One could blend in quite well with the crowd." With that he got up.

Ria watched him go, shocked. She hoped their paths would cross again. But for now, she had to put it aside to speak with the Council.
"I got your letter. Something about bandits in Elsweyr. Well, you were right. I hate bandits, and all manner of criminals. So I want to help. Talia wants to do the same. She heard about the situation and wanted to help the Empire." She turned away, waiting for Talia to explain in more detail why she was there. Meanwhile, she contemplated what Ardin had whispered to her as he left. "Fate has a funny way of showing itself," he had said. She wondered what he had meant, but it was obvious that he was not intending to leave her forever. Ria just hoped that he would rejoin her soon.

Talia nodded her head and shook Ardin's hand, watching him leave before turning to the Council. She looked the Dunmer representative in the eye when she pulled out her letter. She would not be sent away after such a long journey! "I found this note on a bandit." She waved it around, then passed it to the Council, who read it with sour faces. "It seems as if bandits are migrating to Elsweyr and are constantly recruiting." It made perfect sense, now that Talia thought about it. Bandits were safe in Elsweyr, and they were a lot stronger in larger numbers.

Ria snapped back into the conversation.
"It sounds at the moment as if you're going to need our help. But I won't give my help if you don't let Talia help."
It was clear that the Council was not happy about Talia going with her, but she didn't care. The Council looked at each other meaningfully. The Argonian councillor even seemed indignated. Then, finally, the Imperial Councillor said,
"Very well. Your friend will go with you to Elsweyr. But we must demand that you remain in contact with the Council; two reports a week."

Ria nodded respectfully. "Of course, Councillors. I thank you." She turned to Talia and said quietly, "Let's go." Talia nodded and they travelled back down the Tower and onto the steps, ready to start their journey to Elsweyr. They followed the main road west, away from the White-Gold Tower. After much gentle pushing and a long time, Ria and Talia reached the outer gates of the Imperial City, and exited into Cyrodiil. They then turned south, and set off. But before they had gone a mile, Ria heard a noise behind them. Her ears, which had been finely attuned by her early years hunting, heard a very slight crack of a twig and an intake of breath. She gestured to Talia, who stopped. "There's someone here," she whispered. She turned around and called out.
"Hello?" No response. "Why are you following us?"

Talia shot a look at the Council before following Ria out of the tower, and soon after, out of the Imperial City. The flora was remarkably thick even though they had not been out of the city for very long. This surprised Talia greatly. After a little while, Talia opened her mouth to say something, but was distracted by a twig snapping. It was rather loud to her since her ears were so sensitive, and Talia guessed that this person probably knew that. Before long, Ria had confronted the noise. She is quite the daring one, isn't she? She nodded at Ria, then decided to add something. "It's too late to pretend you're not here."

Veramir watched as the small group headed into the Tower and went up a flight of stairs. Deciding to follow them, he watched as they passed through a set of grandiose doors that could only lead to the Council. Sticking behind them, he rested against the door frame as they went inside. After several minutes of waiting, they finally came out. Taking that as his cue, he too entered the massive double doors. There he saw the Imperial Council. Eight seats, each representing the Provinces, though the one for Summerset Isle was oddly empty. No wonder, Veramir thought. After all we did, they would leave that spot empty. Facing the Council, he was soon addressed by the Imperial Councillor. "Veramir Alderis. Welcome to the Imperial Council. I trust you received our letter?" the Councillor said. Veramir nodded. "Indeed. Something about bandits in Elswyer?"

"Yes. It appears they have taken over the entire province and have nearly pushed out the entire native Khajiit. We needed someone who was able-bodied as well as knew the territory around Elsweyr." the Councillor replied. Veramir laughed. "And so you picked me? I suppose it's because of my ties with the Thalmor?" The Councillor chuckled nervously "Yes, well considering your last occupation had you trudging through there, we thought you might be the one person able to handle it." Veramir sighed. "And why not a native Khajiit? Never mind, don't answer; I don't want to know. I'll take this duty on, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." And at that Veramir turned and left the room. As he was heading out, he saw the group he met earlier talking to some of the guards and other people inside the tower. Hmm...They look like they're going the same way I am...I suppose it couldn't hurt to follow them for a while. After all, a little extra protection would be nice on this damnable trip. He quickly ran to try and catch them. Once he could see them, he began hiding amongst the trees and bushes so they wouldn't see him. Following them, he heard brief snippets of their conversation. He was right! They were going to Elsweyr, same as him. He was about to get closer when he heard a twig snap. Cursing, he saw as the group stopped and one of the women called out. "Hello?...Why are you following us?" Damn it! Veramir swore. Well they found me now. No use in hiding...Veramir stepped out of the bushes and faced the woman. "Hello. My name is Veramir. I couldn't help but overhear you're going to Elsweyr. May I come with?"

Talia backed up from the Altmer that had appeared from the shadows. She didn't trust the High Elves, who were commonly associated with the Thalmor, the evil oppressors of Nords to begin with before moving on to every other race. Talia wouldn't be surprised if they held down each others' beliefs. It would make perfect sense. Talia rubbed her hands together, warming them up slightly with a bluish flame. Ice Fire, Talia called it. The Nords were commonly associated with ice, and Dunmer with fire, so Talia thought it quite funny to mix the two spells together, creating a simple blue, freezing fire. It wasn't an expert level, most wizards that she taught it to learned if they were at least apprentices. Many described her flames as "a cold that burns."

Talia rubbed the blue flames in between her hands, eyeing the Altmer suspiciously. "And why would you want to come?"

snap. He look looked down at his feet and saw he stepped on a branch. He held his breath, didn't say a word. They need to be far enough from the city before he could present himself. Ardin slowly crouched down, careful not to make a sound, and waited. Waited for them to continue on with their journey. It was only for a few seconds but it felt like a lifetime. You could hear the wind blowing and rustling the trees. "Wait, what's the altmer doing here? They think it's him that was following them, not me. Good. As long as violence doesn't erupt, I can stay hidden. I need to watch this high elf very closely. But if he so happens to touch Ria and Talia the wrong way, I'll kill him." He sat back and watched, then looked ahead to see the best opportunity to show himself. For now he will watch and following unseen.

Veramir gulped nervously as the woman lit her hands in an odd blue flame. "I have business in Elswyer. No doubt you've heard of the bandit insurgency? Well I've been tasked with eliminating them, with extreme prejudice. When I saw that you were going the same way, I figured I might follow you to see what was your part in Elswyer. There, I've told you what you wanted to know. Now, if you would be so kind, get rid of your flames before I freeze them off." Veramir scowled. Getting threatened right off? He could tell that this was going to be the start of a very long and very annoying adventure. I'm going to need a lot of tea after this...

Ria eyed Veramir suspiciously. She never had trusted an Altmer, but at the moment, they had a common enemy.
"You can come with us," Ria said slowly, "for now."
Damnit, Ria thought. I thought that could have been Ardin. But no, just some divines-damned elf.
Ria could deal with a Dunmer; especially when that Dunmer was Talia. A new friend, but a close one nonetheless. But an Altmer; she had never liked them.

"Great, I guess I'll show myself now. I don't want a dead Altmer" Ardin sled down the hill he was on and walked towards the group, while flipping his dagger. "You know what I never got? Why name it Elswyr. Is it because it's elsewhere or just because? I suppose it doesn't matter. Is there a problem? I feel a bit of malice in the air. I'm guessing we are going to Elswyr? Oh and we have a new friend!" Ardin said with a smile. "Wait... I know you! You were the elf who "asked" me about the council. I guess you are here for the same reason? I guess so or else you wouldn't be following this girls. Unless you meant them harm. I hope it's the former." He said while he looked around to greet his friends. "Good to see you Talia, and of course you Ria." He shook their hands. After all, they still barely know each other."Oh I'm Ardin Wolf's-bane." He said as he stuck his hand out for a shake.

Talia scowled, extinguishing the ice fire slowly, letting the flames fade into the air. She didn't like the thought of an Altmer coming with her and Ria, but if was going to help in the fight against the bandits of Elsweyr, then she would put aside their differences-for now. She walked up to the Altmer, getting up real close to him. "Try anything and I will put you down." She hated all Altmer, and she didn't trust this one. Truth be told, actually, Talia hadn't actually met many High Elves, but enough Nords had complained to her about their ways that it had rubbed off on her. She despised them all.

Talia noticed a figure stepping out of the shadows, and she turned away from the Altmer, smiling when she realized it was Ardin. She walked over to him, sticking out her hand. "Good to see you again."

Veramir looked to the woman, obviously the leader, and rolled his eyes. "Please contain your enthusiasm." He was about to walk on when he was stopped by the woman who had the odd blue flames pointed at him. She glared at him and got real close. "Try anything and I will put you down." Veramir scowled. Excellent, yet another human who distrusts me. Will the racial tensions never cease? Probably not. Looking her dead in the eyes he said, "Don't worry, I'll be a good little Elf. Besides, if I wanted you dead, you'd already be so. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a country to liberate." He then pushed past the woman and started to walk. Suddenly he heard another voice, this time from one he heard before. It was the Nord he talked to at the Tower. Turning around, he saw him come out of the bushes, very near to where he was formerly hiding. After the Nord asked him what his plans were and why he was with these two women, he replied. "My name is Veramir. I am also on the way to Elswyer. These two...charming ladies here let me join their group."

Ria's eyes widened as Ardin showed himself. He walked over to Talia and shook her hand, then walked to Ria and held out his hand to do the same. Ria, her mouth open, shook her head in disbelief and hugged him. She knew it was a little strange; they had only known each other a couple of hours. But she had not expected to see him for a long, long time. So she hugged him, glad to see him again.
"Ardin! But... but... I thought you were leaving!" In her head, she went over his earlier whisper. Fate has a funny way of showing itself. Perhaps this was what he had meant, perhaps he had planned this from the moment they walked into the Council chambers. She damned well hoped so.
