I thought all food did was restore fatigue in oblivion?

Venison and I think one other gave you a heal over time effect.

Deer were just too nice i preferred to slaughter humanoids so i never realized this

I made it a mission to be able to run as fast as a deer and chop it up. Then shoot lightning at it xD

Yeah, each food had 4 different properties in Oblivion. So you could eat it, and get a very small version of one of the effects on yourself (and restore fatigue), or you could use it in Alchemy and make potions that had the same effect only much stronger.
