Jolgir thought about this, abandoning his post ment not getting paid, but then again he could come across some treasures. "Well, I won't get paid, but it would take an army to keep me from a good adventure. So Aganduar where is our first stop."

Agandaur thought for a moment, then finally spoke, "Forgive me if I speak out of line here, but, I think the best use for two city guards in this particular situation would be to cause a distraction, so that our young bosmer and her friends here," he said, indicating the other three in the group, "can move about the city without fear of interuption from any more sword happy guards." At this Agandaur activated a spell of oakflesh, then looked at the nord and asked, in a less than joking tone, "How many ice atronachs do you think the market district can handle at once? I also hope you know some spells my pale friend, for this will hurt even me." With that he turned to the others in the group, "I can only promise two hours without guards, where should we meet afterwards?"

Jolgir smiled and called over some guards,"So guards it would be a shame if the flammable goods were to mysteriously explode in the market place." The guards looked nervous, "Jolgir that is going to cost you alot of coin." Jolgir gave each if the the guards of couple hundred coin and watched as they "accidently" dropped some highly flammable oil lamps in the market place. He watched as many of the towns folk tried to put out the fire and save there stalls.

Jolgir turned to Aganduar, "This is how you start a distraction, summoning atronachs would be to suspicious." Jolgir took pride in his work, after all distractions and guerrilla warfare were some of his specialities. He nodded to Scarlett on pointed to the main gates,"Well there is your ddistraction."

Dizzy with all that had happened so quickly, Scarlett tried to sort out some of what she had just discovered.

One, she had never seen a Khajiit in person and wasn't entirely sure whether all of them were so massive in stature. She also figured that it was probably rare for a Khajiit to be a mage. Two, Kalib, at least according to the Khajiit, was a werewolf. This explained quite a few things actually. Three, the most disturbing of her discoveries, Huzul had indeed committed his share of crimes. She could only guess at what was meant by "what happens in Solitude, stays in Solitude." Four, the nord who had assaulted her had a particularly vehment grudge towards elves; she would do well not to cross him.

Scarlett jumped, startled out of her thoughts as she heard people scream, frantically running about and trying to put out the flames. She was grateful that these guards wanted to help, unlike the many other ones that brushed her off earlier in the day, but this was extreme.

"I-I-I thank you for your help, but the reason I wanted to find the bandits was to stop them from hurting other people! Even if this is but a means to an end, I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of it!"

Scarlett looked at the chaos growing around them. It was too late to change things now. The fire was proving to be a good distraction, one Scarlett would use just so none of it was in vain.

"I suppose it can't be helped now. Just promise me that you'll let me know how I can help clean up in the morning, please? For now, we have bandits to catch!"

Agandaur ran towards the market district, readying a flame spell as he went, he looked to Jolgir and said, "Remember, the bosmer doesnt want others to get hurt, so you escort the civilans out, while this one hides and makes the bucket brigade wish they had much, much bigger buckets."

Jolgir nodded rushed towards the fire,"All right all civilians to your homes, get the wounded to the barracks." Jolgir escorted several scared and confused merchants to there homes and saw several guards carry away the Argonian who was responsible for shipments,"It was not me, I didn't do it!" the argonain continued to cey out and protest. Jolgir thought about stopping them, and decided against it,"Not my problem."

Meanwhile, thanks to Agandaur, for every bucket of water that was dumped on the fire, two more were needed. Agandaur had heard the camotion with the argonian in charge of shipments as he was sneaking into the blaze that was once the windhelm market district. He chuckled about the whole situation, "This one has not had such fun scince the moonsugar incedent," he thought aloud. Agandaur was no longer aloud to get moonsugar in windhelm for one reason alone, the Jarl's cook prefered his cattle to be of the slightly less than painted variety. But that was a story to be told with pride after he got out of the fire. Agandaur had been making his way around the square, setting shop after shop ablaze from the inside so as not to be spotted. The final shop was the alchemy shop which was across the square from his current location, getting there would not be the problem, "the problem," he thought to hisself, "will be the five crates of fire salts that were delivered this morning." With that he made his way across the square past Jolgir, who was "helping" the alchemy shop keeper out of the inferno that used to be the market district, and into the shop. He commenced to lighting the place on fire, the heat was so intense, Agandaur couldn't help but think of home, Elsweyr, and next thing he knew, he was airborn, in his moment of inattention, Agandaur had let the fire get too close to the crates of firesalts, the resulting explosion was massive to say the least, it had been felt throughout the city.

Huzul just stood there, not acknowledging the way people veered to get away from him. Very silently, he wavered through the crowd, following someone of unknown origin, constantly clicking his tounge.

"This is madness, at its best. I knew I should have just bought you new equipment."

Kalib said as he shook his head from one side to the next. His attention centered on where he might be able to do the most good, and thus he strode into the chaos. Buckets of water were being thrown, one after the next, but it seemed to do little to help. Kalib placed his hands out in front of himself and drew on his innate reserves and called forth a stream of icy mist from the palms of his hands. The pressure behind the frigid spray was enough to put fires out with a few moments time.

"Scarlett, I fear this may have cost us our final goal."

Scarlett hopelessly took in the madness and ruin all around her. Shopkeepers ran frantically about, desperately trying to save their goods from the flames. Looters slipped in and out of the shadows, feeding on the chaos. Onlookers whispered to one another, throwing accusations and placing blame on the Dunmer. They demanded the grey quarter be swept for suspects. This was all her fault. Scarlett kicked piece of rubble. Indeed, she really was a magnet for trouble.

Kalib was helping to put out the flames with a strange mist coming from his hands. Beyond questioning anything at this point, Scarlett simply answered, "I didn't want to make you pay for my mistakes, but it's too late for that now I suppose. I've made everything worse; all I wanted was to stop the bandits from preying on anyone else, and more selfishly, to get my sketchbook back. Everything else could be replaced, well, almost everything, my bow meant a lot to me too, but it's my sketchbook that I miss the most. It wouldn't be worth anything to them, but my pleas that they let me keep it must have convinced them that I was lying to them. I'm sorry."

Scarlett took a quick headcount. Kalib was next to her, the Nord was arresting looters with glee, and... "Where are Huzul and the Khajiit guardsman?"

Suddenly, an explosion shook the plaza, knocking Scarlett to her hands and knees. A ball of fire erupted from the alchemy shop. People ran screaming and the plaza quickly emptied. From the scarred, blacken remains of the building emerged the Khajiit, covered from head to toe in soot, coughing as he limped out into the plaza.

    "What on Nirn just happened!?"

As Agandaur stepped out of the rubble, his head was spinning, but he had heard the question as clear as day. "What on Nirn just happened!?" He looked at Scarlett and winced as he took another step. He smiled at her and said, "This one offers a word of advice to you, be careful with fire salts around an open flame, the results can be quite... grand, to say the least." With that he turned and went to work helping Kalib, and putting out the blaze that he had helped to create, as if the explosion had never happened, though he was obviously in pain.

Jolgir wished he picked better guards to bribe. Those milk drinkers ratted him out to the Jarl, while conveniently forgetting that they actually took the bribe. "Aye, he tried to bribe us and when we said no he must have done it himself.", these were the words Jolgir heard as he saw Ulfric and the 5 guards he bribed march towards him weapons drawn. Jolgir drew his swords only for Ulfric to shout it out of his hands,"So Ulfric will I get paid or not." Jolgir almost immediately felt the breath knocked out of him as he was punched in the stomach and dragged to the market. Jolgir watched as Ulfric announced out loud,"We have Jolgir, and we know he didn't work alone step out now!" Jolgir tried get up only to be shoved down again."Well now would be a great time to help."

As if to a signal, Jolgir heard Huzul's Argonian voice. But not with his ears. It emanated from his mind, yet he wasn't thinking it.

"I can help you," Huzul's voice rang in his mind, "but none of my spells are legal."
Immediately after, Ulfric and his men grabbed their heads in pain.
"I know where they are!" Ulfric suddenly proclaimed, and he and his guards suddenly ran off, in exactly the opposite direction of where any of us are.

Scarlett balked at the scene before her. The group of Nords who dragged her sword-happy, new friend (she used the term loosely) into the plaza had spontaneously ran off, completely forgetting him as they did so. She doubted they just had a change of heart. Again, it seemed, there were stranger forces at work. This last straw of craziness was enough to finally throw Scarlett over. She had to many questions, not enough answers, and too much was happening, too quickly for her to process it all.

She needed a chance to think things through; she needed order, a new plan of action, not to mention the fact that she was exhausted. She would gather her odd bunch of newly-minted criminals, get the heck out of there, and return to help again once things were calm. This was their chance to escape and regroup; Teldryn taught her enough about magic to know that, whatever had charmed the Nords into running off, its effect was not likely to last long.

She had found Kalib, the Khajiit, and the Nord, but Huzul was still nowhere to be found. Given what little she knew of him though, she figured he was probably fine. He might have simply decided to ditch them altogether, not that Scarlett could blame him really. Their little "distraction" will probably end up with all if them running from the law. Scarlett sighed, not only were her sketchbook and bow as good as gone, she was a accomplice to arson now too. She needed to have a few words with the two probably ex-guardsmen about that later.

Scarlett ran up besides Kalib. "We need to get out of here before those guards get back. We can't right our wrongs if they throw us in prison, or worse give our heads to the axeman. Do you know of a safe place where we can rest and regroup? If not, this is probably your last chance to realize trying to help me was a big mistake and walk away while you still can."

(OOC: Hey Kalib, I don't know if you know this, so just in case you were unaware, I'll tell you. We have an OOC thread devoted to this story, if you ever want to discuss the plot or just chat. I thought I shared that info with everyone, so if you do know, but just didn't have anything you wanted to say that's cool too. I just wanted to double check that you did indeed know that we had one. It should be here: http://skyrimforum.com/sf/index.php?threads/70531/ )

((I knew about it, I just didn't feel like I had much, if anything to contribute. Oh. And Andger, we've been waiting on you to post in Ice Spike Inn for a while.))

"It wasn't a mistake to help you. But I agree that we should leave the city, if not the Hold. The prejudices of these Nords can sometimes be an all consuming thing."

As he was speaking, Kalib was still working to put out some of the fires with the icy mist springing forth from his hands. After speaking, Kalib's fingers would close into a fist while he ceased with employing what little magical prowess he felt he had. With a sigh of contempt for the whole situation, he went about taking Scarlett by the hand and cautiously melding into the frantic crowd.

The others, for now at least, would have to be on their own if they didn't follow. Guards would obviously be gathering at the fire, to aid in containing it, as well as to begin questioning people for information about how it started to begin with. This would leave gaps in patrol patterns that could be exploited. Kalib moved to an alley between two single story buildings and let go of Scarlett's hand, if she had followed him up to that point. Right after, he'd leap through the air and on top of the roof of the building. From there he'd crouch and hold his right hand out towards Scarlett.

"They'll be combing the streets. Few are smart enough to look to the roof tops. With the fire and smoke, we should be able to make it over the walls with no problems."

(OOC: Okay, I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't accidentally left you out. And we've been using it just to chat more than anything, so feel free to post, even if it's not story related, if you want! :)

"Alright, but don't say that didn't warn you!" Scarlett took Kalib's hand and followed him as he maneuvered through the crowded streets with ease. Once in a secluded alleyway, she watched as he jumped to the rooftops, as graceful and lithe as cat. He offered his hand to help her follow him up.

Scarlett was much too short to make the jump, even with Kalib's assistance. Plus, she didn't have a werewolf's agility. After a few failed, embarrassing attempts, Scarlett spotted a few stacked crates nearby. She shoved them to the wall and quickly climbed on top of them. From there, teetering slightly to keep balance, she was able to finally reach his outstretched hand and scrabbled up onto the roof.

Thick black smoke billowed from the nearby flames and made a perfect screen to hide the two as they fled to the outer gates. On the other hand, Scarlett couldn't see a thing in the darkness and could only hope that the other two were following somewhere nearby.

As they snuck from rooftop to rooftop, prepared to leave, Kalib suddenly heard a noise. Very high pitched, like a Wispmother with healing spells. Looking around, he realized that Scarlett wasn't hearing it. He looked around, confused. Surely getting to safety was more important than an intriguing noise. Focusing, he realized the source of the noise was along the way. They crept forward. Eventually, they realized no guards were around. The noise suddenly stopped. Focusing, he heard muffled speaking inside a building. The door opened, and a large Nord stumbled out, falling onto the gravel. Huzul walked out afterwards, looking calm.

He looked around, making sure no guards were nearby. The Nord scrabbled on the ground for his sword, holding it at Huzul. Huzul, shaking his head, touched the tip of the blade with a finger, and it bent back towards the Nord, and snapped in half. Immediately after, Huzul touched the Nord's head, and he lost consciousness.
"You can come out now," Huzul said, not turning toward Scarlett and Kalib, "I've found him."
