Ah yes. My build is more of an offense type, I rely on conjuration heavily to distract while I inflict as much damage as I possibly can while they are busy. Its a high risk/high reward sort, it just makes it so I'm not all that OP but at the same time super effective, I like to keep the game challenging.

I skipped out on Heavy Armor and Smithing because you don't need that many perks in either to hit the armor cap so I wanted to maximize my offensive skills as much as possible for the above reasons. I like to keep my heavy armor skills pretty even with my Smithing/Enchanting skill as to help with balance, its not so much a problem by level 10.

No alchemy, but instead of chose to invest heavily in Enchantment. Its Alchemy plus more, I can easily Enchant some Alchemy equipment to get on-par with someone with a few perks in the Alchemy tree and I can also make my weapons and/or armor improved ten-fold (enchanting Smithing clothes and the armor cap can easily be achieved). Enchantment is just the better choice to specialize in, imo.

Trust me, by the mid/end-game my character will have so much offense that having any defense will be practically redundant, but Enchantment takes care of that for me anyway. It's definitely a challenging build, especially on Master, but its extremely fun because you are always on your toes and some enemies you can just obliterate before they can even open their mouths to scream. If you are up for it, its definitely worth trying.

I guess the crux of it is that ive been going for op builds then. I play on my computer, and its veeery laggy, so iwana be able to take hits & dish them out without much problem, otherwise gameplay would be almost impossible. Im hoping to get an xbox for christmas, so then iwont havta worry about my characters being as good, I can focus on my actual gaming skills. So I guess the fun/challenging builds I havnt really lookd at yet. Thanks for that.

Oh my build is definitely OP. I am Level 19 and things are already in my favor for most battles, its just extremely hard to get anywhere at first lol. You should branch out if you can, I never thought I would like Conjuration at first but I love it, makes for great fights. I love Sword/Shield as well but Dual-wielding is just so much sweeter, its just your so much more vulnerable. This build is hard as plops though, its pissed me off dozens of times but its worthwhile.

Check out the site that Street's had posted, it has some great builds. The build that I am using right now I actually got the idea from a build on there called "Bronze Sentinel" and "The Fallen Hero" (Or something like that) by Mason, and just tweaked them a bit coincidentally with the help of Streets as well =P

PC's better for Skyrim though, the mods are just insane. You should think about upgrading your current one instead of getting a console (Unless of course you are on a laptop) if you see yourself playing Skyrim a whole hell of a lot.

When I'm looking for inspiration, I tend to check out the Skyrim Blog character building page. Specifically the "best" or most popular/liked builds are on the Legendary page. Take a look:
Legendary Builds - The Skyrim Blog

I had a lot of fun with my own versions of "The Sorcerer", "The Mauloch", "The Demonhunter", and "The Necro Knight".

EDIT: I certainly agree with everything Crooksin is saying.

Crooksin sounds like he has much more experience than me, so I can only imagine u guys are right. With that link u gave...wow. I just read the demonhuter build, and the idea is something ive never considered, but sounds completely awesome for dawnguard. I think i might try it.

I definitely do see that, as well as black ops 2, assassin's creed 3, halo 4...u get the idea. I am on a laptop, and the cooling on it is horrendous. Believe it or not, I play on a macbook. That site, at a first glance, appears to be a gold mine for me. I'll havta spend alot more sifting thro it. Thanx so much Streets.

My main character is a Breton warrior with dual swords. All my characters are Bretons because I like the magic resitance more than all other racial abilities. Do Book of Love quests and you're sitting at 40% with no jewelry or other perks. Its totally out of my build, but I spared enough perks for magic resist from the alteration tree, and now I have 60% magic resist, capped at 85% with just one piece of jewelry.

I use alchemy, enchanting, and smithing together to make the best possible armor and weapons. That entails enchanted crafting gear, good for a 28% bonus on smithing and alchemy, and a smithing potion for a 119% bonus. With one-handed perks, my swords each hit for 381 damage and nothing, but nothing, survives a single series of power attacks.

Nothing is really a challenge with this character. I just run up and one-shot everything in the game. With later characters I tried to look for less powerful, more challenging routes and I'm finding a pure mage the most difficult. Not that mages are bad, I'm just having a hard time adapting after being so melee-intensive.

Totally agree mate. I havent been able to manage a pure mage either. That's part of the reason i started this thread actually...anyway, i havent been able to stay away from the crafting skills. I just cant do it. The perks would be useful elsewhere, but i just cant bring myself to settle for anything less than enchanted legendary armor with potion-buffed skills & heavily poisoned weapons. I havent found magical resistance to be as appealing as u see it tho...does it protect against enemy weapon enchantments as well? Cuz if so, that would boost my impression of it. Also, does the one-shot power attacking work on master-level difficulty as well? My default is adept, so idk firsthand how challenging master is.
