0. Left Vvardenfell (Tel Andryn)

1. Was proven guilty by association within 2 minutes of walking up pale pass, almost got killed by both a headsman and a dragon, left the plops town.

2. Ignored Hadvar's request and went straight to the college of winterhold

3. Was greeted by an arrogant Altmer in which now annoys me daily.

4. Stuck teaching petty wizards simple arcane knowledge. While being bothered by both my Telvanni superiors and the arrogant Altmer.

5. Had a drink at the tavern with a more respectable Altmer

With my most recent character, a kind of Shadowknight:
1. Obtain Ring of Namira
2. Kill Salma outside Ironbind Barrow for her Steel Plate armor
3. Complete forbidden legend for The Gauldur Amulet
4. Obtain Volendrung (can be done at level 9)
Around level 10:
5. Start Dawnguard, get conjure Boneman Archer/Mistman so I can conjure undead without a corpse.

I like making my character really powerful as early as possible, so I have the most levels to enjoy it. Usually requires not using any tradeskills, because they level you too fast. I also avoid selling, lockpicking, being rested or standing stones that increase skill gains.

It is actually more fun than skyrocketing to level 25-30 using tradeskills.

Snake Tortoise

Here's For Your Trouble
1. Activate one of the three stones
2. Drop by and empty the bandit mine just off the road on the way to Riverwood
3. After doing some town stuff in Riverwood (selling, smithing, sleeping etc) do the quest to retrieve the golden claw for the guy in the general store, and clear out the draugr dungeon after finding the claw
4. Go to Whiterun and do some selling/smithing etc.
5. Head off to a city I've decided to base myself in and do a load of missions from there

I don't do the main quest until much later in the game when I'm ready to tackle dragons, and I usually leave the various factions alone for a while too. The early game is all about minor quests and random fortress/dungeon cleansing. Also chasing specific perks and items
