I just realised that skyrim has coaches that can automatically take you to any major city, for a measly 20gold!! I'm on my 4th character now and have probably played at least 50+ hours, but I never realised this. Particularly when you just start out a new character and you don't want to do the obvious first few quests (riverwood, bleak falls n on to whiterun to kill the dragon), it took me ages to get to the cities with the quests I was interested in.

I mean who would start the game by walking from Helgen all the way to Solitude to start the imperial questline, as a slow orc in heavy armour.... Silly me that's who... Ah well at least my adventuring days in the wilderness are over now that I've found public transport. My Orc will probably become overweight now from eating too many sweetrolls.

I'm shocked that you have just now noticed this. They are quite prevalent throughout the game, sitting outside many major towns. One level of dialogue with them and they offer their services. Prices are very reasonable as well...

they are handy if you're doing a bit of roleplaying and don't want to do fast travel.
one downside to them is that they only go to and from the major cities and only to the other ones. Meaning you then have to walk. one way around that is to buy a horse, then if you use the cart to go from say Whiterun to Dawnstar, you'll at least have a horse to ride back.

I'd rather be working on my bowling average.
It's 20-50 gold depending on the city. Even if you RPG, no one knows if you use fast travel or not ;)

Yea I know I'm kicking myself for only noticing now. I'd always seen them around, but I dunno always assumed that they just traveled in real time places. Like a tour bus of skyrim or when your in the coach at the start of the game. Anyway live and learn...

You probably had more fun adventuring than fast travel by coach anyways ;)
oh absolutely. Me being a lazy sod I would have probably never gone adventuring, so its prob good I only figured it out now :). For some reason I don't mind walking to a location once, but when I make a new charactor I find it tedious doing the same trip over and over again. One day when I'm an old adventurer I might take the time to just wander round skyrims beautiful landscape :) one day

they are also good to use to get to some place you have not been before where you don't have the option to fast travel.
