I've got a script attached to my player in a home-grown quest in legacy Skyrim. Event handlers onInit, onItemAdded, and onItemRemoved in that script do not run. A function in the script runs fine when called from a dialogue script fragment.
Here's the script, gutted of logic. I've compiled and run like this just to see the debug, which of course I never saw:

Somebody please embarrass me by telling me what silly little thing I've overlooked. What have I missed that would make the events recognized in my script?
