So... I've finished the civil war quests because that was the most fun for me, but I kind of spoiled the main questline for myself and read up on it. In seasons unending, there's the meeting, but like I killed some of those people already... Will that break the quest? And I finished the civil war quests like 30 levels ago so going back isn't an option for me

I believe if I remember right from the wiki, it doesn't break it, just basically eliminates the need for that part of the quest line. You just get to have whiterun give you the help you need.

Yup that's correct. I've done this twice so far.

I'm personally kinda glad it does do this as I found that whole part of the main questline rather boring.

I did, and it really doesn't effect anything except what cities belong to whom, you can give over different places depending on your whim.

Interesting. I'm on a third play through now and might have to try that... if I don't miss the chance lol

well as long as you stay away from the civil war quests till after you should be fine. I think you can pick those back up afterwards

If you complete the Imperial or Stormcloak questline, the quest becomes nothing more than dialogues with 2 NPCs and then proceeds to the next quest. Unfortunately that means you miss out on what IMO is some informative and interesting game content. It also makes the name of the quest completely meaningless since it refers to one of my favorite voice acted lines from the game by Christopher Plummer as Arngeir. If you complete either faction questline the words are never heard so the meaningfulness of the name of the quest is lost.

"Do you know the ancient Nord word for war? Season Unending...so it has proved" -Arngeir

I found it to be very interesting. It's one of the few quests in the game that doesn't involve the typical speak to NPC, go to location, kill kill kill, grab quest item and return to NPC type structure that is the basic model for the overwhelming majority of the quests in the game and one of the few non-violent quests in the game. You get further clarity on Ulfric's character and get to see all the key NPC's interact in ways that you'll never get to see at any other point in the game. Ugly truths about war crime atrocities also can surface. Finally, if you don't want to participate in the faction war because you don't find either side particularly appealing, it also represents your only opportunity to change the landscape of the game.

I did the civil war quest just to eliminate the need for the treaty. The treaty is the most boring part of the game IMO

I highly enjoyed the peace conference. I thought it was nice to have something different.

ok, it wasn't bad, it did have some interesting dialoge, but going thru it multiple times would be a dragg. LOL
