Need help with Phinis Gestor from the College of Winterhold!!!

Does anyone have a clue where phinis gestor the master conjuration spell trainer in the college of winterhold is? I have spent literally more than a day (in real life) looking for this bastard. Could he have been killed by a dragon? I would think he would be considered unkillable given that he is quest related.

most often he can be found in the Archaneum(sp?)

I've seen him and the other trainers go to a knee during dragon fights, so I think they're all tagged as essential. Maybe he fell off the bridge and is stuck in the river below?

Phinis is usually in the Hall of Countenance at night and The Arcanaeum during the day. The Colllege of Winterhold NPCs sometimes get stuck in place in the courtyard. I found Colette stuck behind one of the small trees walking in place after looking for her for days. Sometimes I have seen them walking up to the College from the town.
