Kingdoms of Tamriel-Prologue
It is the fifth Era of Tamriel, and the world has changed remarkably from the Tamriel of old.
Ulfric Stormcloak's victory in the War for Independence served as an inspiration in other provinces, of all different loyalties and ties.
Hammerfell threw out both Thalmor and Empire, same as Argonia, High Rock, and of course Skyrim.
As a result of the Empire's failing grip of control over their provinces, the Thalmor once again declared war upon the Empire, and with their invasion, the second Great War had begun.
The Empire fought a desperate battle for survival against the greatly more powerful alliance of Altmer, Bosmer and Khajiit, but with no one to seek assistance from, the Empire was defeated, and the Thalmor were not slow to lay claim to all of Tamriel, forging the Thalmor Empire.
Of course however, the other independent kingdoms would not bow without a fight either, many provinces had already witnessed the tyranny of the Thalmor, and so the humans of West and North formed a coalition of man, to stand together against the Thalmor.
Redguards, Bretons and Nords, all fought under the same banner against the invading Thalmor, in a massive war of attrition, millions dying on each side, without anyone gaining any sort of advantage.
After nearly hundred years of war, the war was still without a winner. The remaining Thalmor military present in both the Imperial province as well as in the warzones in Hammerfell and Skyrim, were forced to retreat back to Summerset Isle, after a group of Altmer nobles had sieged power from the Thalmor in a military coup, killing all Thalmor representatives and officials.
As a result of this bloody coup, many Thalmor commanders serving in the war or Elsweyr, Valenwood and the Imperial Province returned to Summerset Isle with their own soldiers, all claiming themselves as new rulers of the Thalmor.
As the Altmer was locked in a chaotic civil war in their homeland, the Bosmer and Khajiit once again declared independence, without any Thalmor soldiers there to suppress the provinces to obey, and it did not take long for the Imperials to do the same.
Even with such a blessing that the Altmer coup was, (for the humans that is.) it was only a drop in an ocean, for Man could call themselves winners, but the price had been grievous. The deserts of Hammerfell were filled with fallen, men and elves alike. Even though the armies of the Coalition were still strong in numbers, they had no way to hunt the Altmer down, an invasion of Summerset would only unite the Altmer again, and so the Coalition disbanded, and the soldiers returned home to rebuild.
With the focus so strong upon the raging war between men and elves in the west, many had no idea at all what was happening in the East, and many did not care either. News had been few and untruthful, often mere myths than actual reports.
What truly had happened was not far from what occurred in the west.
With Morrowind openly rebuilding their military strength since the end of 3E, their ancient rivals of Argonia begun to worry. The Argonians did not wish for war with the Dunmer again, and so they sent emissaries to Morrowind, skilled diplomats with the mission to find the intentions of the Dunmer's ever growing army, and perhaps find a way to stop their military preparations.
The emissaries returned to Argonia, their bodies violated with magic, stabbed until they were unrecognisable, and with the mark of the Great Houses painted upon the scales, ripped off of the emissaries.
The Argonian lords and commanders did not wish for another war with their northern neighbours, especially with the new Thalmor threat in the Imperial Province directly west of them, and so they sent new envoys to Morrowind, with gold and gems, to soothe the Dunmer into friendship, to direct their warmongering hordes elsewhere, but it was too late.
The Dunmer had prepared for years, and as their massive hordes of warriors, clad in Bonemold and Chitin, marched upon Argonia, they did so faster than any would believed possible, their hordes were past the border within a week, wreaking havoc upon the unprepared border settlements and fortifications. Argonia had no other option but to gradually fall back to their own capital, they had no chance of sending enough men to halt the Dunmer invasion.
And so it happened, that the assembled (and bloodthirsty) argonian war host faced the full strength of Morrowind, but this time in their own lands, no longer were the Dunmer weak and fragile. The Dunmer hadn't forgotten how the Argonians burned their homes back in the Fourth Era, and many of the veterans now standing in Argonia were still seeking vengeance for the dead.
But the Argonians were fighting for those murdered by the Dunmer already, they fought to defend their homeland. All able fighters Argonia could muster had marched to the front. Everyone from old farmers to the massive reptiles of the marshlands patiently waited in the massive swamplands for the battle to start.
But the Argonians were once again forced to fall back, now into their capital, after the Dunmer tricked large bulks of the Argonian army into a trap, fooling them to march into the deep waters, as the Telvanni wizards electrocuted them, burning all in the water. And during the many parts of the siege, more and more Dunmer was butchered attempting to break into the Argonian capital, until the siege reached a stalemate, just as the battles in the west.
The Great Houses of Morrowind were not very friendly towards each other, and as the Dunmer horde shamefully marched back to their homeland, the Houses all blamed each other for the defeat. At last, the tensions rose to such an extreme, that House Redoran marched upon the Indorils and the Hlaalu, and not long after all of Morrowind was involved in the battles, as many other minor Houses sought to gain power for themselves as well.
Argonia celebrated their victory, but their commanders were dead, their lands ruined, but they were alive, they had defeated the Dunmer onslaught.
So this is where we are at now. Tamriel is in utter turmoil, leaderless, broken and weak.
But from the ashes of the old comes forth new kingdoms, and new rulers. Will you bring your people to prosperity and peace? Or will your kingdom once again turn to ruin?
Roleplay:
Pretty badass prologue right? Why thank you!
Anyway, I think everyone on this forum is familiar with the game genre of RTS? RTS stands for Real-Time-Strategy, and is basically games such as Warcraft 3, Starcraft, The Total War franchise, and such games!
This roleplay takes on a pretty unusual genre for roleplay: RTS.
You will have the choice to roleplay as the king/Queen/emperor/empress of your very own kingdom here! Or, (if royalty makes you throw up) you can simply roleplay as a commander or noble within a kingdom, with either an NPC ruler, or another roleplayer as your supreme ruler!
So, here follows some basic guidelines as well as rules for this roleplay, do follow them, that is what they're here for.
RULES:
1. 7-13 players, exceptions can be made, but no more than 10 "rulers" is allowed. This is to make sure that Tamriel isn't suddenly swarming with twenty different kings that all claim Tamriel as their own, however epic the World War sounded in the prologue, I assure you it will be way to chaotic to maintain something like that with more than 13 people!
2.Each IRL day is one season in the roleplay. So for example, monday is spring, tuesday would be Summer, wednesday Autumn, and Thursday is Winter! This is to control the pace of this RP, which will be quite fast-paced (If you do not think you can handle posting at least once each other day, I advise you to find another RP, you simply won't be able to keep up with the others) and to also make sure that we have some sort of "calendar" over things. Also, letters and orders never took one day to issue back in the medieval ages, preparing an army could take years! Sending a letter to another kingdom could take all Winter! So the whole season thing will make sure things can happen in a good, realistic setting.
3. No more than 2 rulers per Province! If one person chooses to be the King/Queen of Valenwood, five others cannot decide as well that they wish to become Kings of Valenwood! At top, two different players can claim the same Province, and split it equally. (So there will be a king of West Valenwood vs the king of East Valenwood, and these two players can together decide if they wish to ally up to form the united Valenwood, or battle it out to see who will become the Supreme Super Awesome Monopoly King of Valenwood.)
4. Play realistically! Positive AND negative traits! Your kingdom's borders cannot be from Hammerfell to Morrowind, you're restricted to ONE province maximum for your kingdom! That does not however mean you cannot ally with another ruler of his/her province. Your kingdom should have both good and bad things happen to it! If you go to war with your neighbor, the merchants would be angry because they lose their trade opportunity (for example), and with your soldiers leaving for the war, civil uprisings and crime increases in your cities, if you lose the war, make the people less and less happy with you as king/Queen! Play realistically!
5. Amount of detail is self-chosen! If you're new to the whole "Ruler"-thing, maybe you will not be able to go into as much details about your kingdom as that old RTS-veteran you roleplay with, but at least attempt to fill in as much different details about decisions and stats within your kingdom as you can, on a regular basis. That doesn't mean you should have every single post you make be about your ruler sitting bored in his/her Throneroom, making decisions about next year's harvest and the strength of your Guardforce. But mention that in a post from time to time!
6. DON'T FOCUS ONLY UPON STATS! Sure the RP is about ruling your kingdom, but feel free to make personal posts, that has nothing at all to do with how your ruler rules his/her kingdom! Post about the Ruler walking around in his capital, cloaked, asking how his people feel about him/her! Make the Ruler interact with his/her family! Surely he/she has an heir to groom for the throne?
And that's it for the rules pretty much! I know it's a lot of text, but don't be scared by a lot of letters! They rules are really simple! It's just me that has a way of making them sound confusing and chaotic
And so, if you wish to join this utterly badass roleplay! Make a "CC" with the following information!
CC:
Rulers: (Commanders and generals included, basically any important members of your government and royal family!)
Province: (What province do you lay claim to? Try and pick a Province not already taken by another player, as that will surely help your chances of being accepted into the RP.
Kingdom Name and Emblem/Flag: Find/Make a fitting name for your kingdom! I don't even need to explain that names containing inappropriate words or such will be removed instantly, hopefully no one is THAT immature! Also, find or make a flag for your Kingdom! Find something that might have a connection to your Kingdom history if possible! But anything is fine! As long as it is not unappropriate!
History: How did your clan/House/Family rise to power? Was your ruler a commander during the Second Great War and took power with his/her military power? Was he/she selected as most fitting by the people? And what did they do before becoming the Ruler(s)?
Loyalty: To who is your Kingdom loyal to? If you are independent, simply write your own Kingdom's name here, but if you are the vassal of another kingdom, or maybe your Ruler is a direct connection to an Aedra/Daedra, write the name of your lord here! (For example, The Kingdom of New Atmora, or Hermaeus Mora.)
Races: What is the main-race of people within your kingdom? Many things have changed, so feel free to spice it up a bit if you feel like it! (For example, maybe the Forsworn of Skyrim are now a dominant group, and the Nords and Forsworn live side by side culturally?)
Religion: What religion does your kingdom follow? Do they worship the 8/9 divines? The daedra? The Tribunal? The dragon cult? The Dovahkiin? A great Spirit? As long as it is Lore-friendly, feel free to decide it!
Initial stats: What state is your kingdom in in the start? You have the prologue to take a bit of inspiration from, as a base, but add as much as you want! But keep it realistic! (For example, New Orsinium is repairing their castles, they have moderate wealth, very few people, a very small military force, but extremely well-trained and armed, and extremely veteran. However, as the kingdom focuses upon military strenght, they have very poor technological advances as a nation. Their food distribution is average, with a good supply of meat, fish and wheat per year. They trade with small High Rock villages, but no trade with other kingdoms.)
Capital: Your kingdom's capital, (self-explanatory if you ask me)
Player casting:
Jo'rak Vandeni: King Thirlin Hledhren The Snake of The Silvermoon Isle (Solstheim)
Kimrisvik: Slaveking Renold Berg The Prejudiced of The Western Empire (Hammerfell)
EpicVakarian: King Brodras Camoran The Conqueror of The Elves of The Parikhen (Auridion and Stros M'kai)
Blackdoom59: High Chief Wrukaog of The Bloody Fang Clan (Orsinium)
Colonelscout312: King Nomad War-Blade of The Clan War-Blade (Eastern Skyrim)
Halcyondaiz: Queen S'ira Rii The Maneless One of The Khajiit (Elsweyr)
Khaotic3: Queen Nakila Xeirdorus of Xeirdor (Argonia)
Tdatapina: King Dion Asiius of Alesarius (Cyrodiil)
And that is pretty much all of it! Good luck tending your kingdom! If you have any further questions, or ideas that you think would help this RP become even more perfect, feel free to tell/ask me anytime! I try to be online every day!
