I have made a character that is a crossover of an Assassin and a Mage.
Here (http://skyrimcalculator.com/#30015) is a link to my build so you can seek the perks I chose (assuming I get to level 81) and their uses. Below is a list of the perks I chose and some explanations why I did or did not choose certain things. Any help is appreciated! :)

Archery
  • Overdraw (3/5)
  • Critical Shot (1/3) (note: I did not invest more into Overdraw or Critical Shot because Sneak perk gave more extra damage)
  • Eagle Eye
  • Power Shot
  • Quick Shot
  • Hunter’s Discipline
  • Ranger
One-handed
  • Armsman (2/5) (note: I did not invest more into Armsman because Sneak dagger perk gave more extra damage + Possible Added weapon damage with Smithing/Enchanting/Alchemy)
  • Fighting Stance
Smithing
  • Steel Smithing
  • Arcane Blacksmith
  • Dwarven Smithing
  • Elven Smithing
  • Orcish Smithing
  • Ebony Smithing
  • Glass Smithing
  • Advanced Armors
  • Daedric Smithing
  • Dragon Smithing
Light Armor
  • Agile Defender (1/5) (note: I did not invest more into Agile Defender because I will naturally reach Armor Rating cap with the use of other skills)
Alchemy
  • Alchemist (5/5)
  • Physician
  • Benefactor
  • Poisoner
  • Experimenter (2/3) (note: I did not invest another perk into Experimenter because I already know many first effects from experimenting)
  • Snakeblood
  • Purity
Illusion
  • Novice Illusion
  • Animage
  • Kindred Mage
  • Quiet Casting* (note: I primarily invested in Illusion for Quiet Casting)
Conjuration
  • Novice Conjuration
  • Apprentice Conjuration
  • Adept Conjuration
  • Expert Conjuration
  • Master Conjuration
  • Mystic Binding
  • Soul Stealer
  • Necromancy
  • Dark Souls
  • Twin Souls
  • Summoner
  • Atromancy
  • Elemental Potency
(note: I really enjoy Conjuration and having a little team of undead/atronachs when things get intense so I invested heavily in it. I will use it if spotted and sometimes summon atronachs to divert attention away)

Destruction
  • Novice Destruction
  • Apprentice Destruction
  • Adept Destruction
  • Expert Destruction
  • Master Destruction
  • Augmented Flames (2/2) (note: I decided to specialize in Fire as a Dark Elf, but did not invest in Intense Flame perk because I do not want enemies to flee)
Enchanting
  • Enchanter (5/5)
  • Insightful Enchanter
  • Corpus Enchanter
  • Extra Effect
  • Fire Enchanter
  • Frost Enchanter
  • Storm Enchanter
  • Soul Squeezer
What do you think? ;)

Looks like one serious badass! I can't offer improvement suggestions as my experience has been solely with the hack & slash toon. I guess you need the right side of the Smithing tree for weaponry. Too bad they couldn't have broken smithing separately into weapon and armor skill so their could have been a more refinement with the required perks.

Thanks! :) It took me a while to come up with this build. I kept going back to the drawing board until I was satisfied. I just wanted to see if anyone could see anything that could possibly not work/work better. And yeah, I too wish Smithing was broken separately into weapon and armor skills  I hate using points on perks I'll probably never utilize just to get something I really want. I suppose that's the way it goes though ^_^

Disclaimer: Keep in mind my posts are meant to be taken constructively.

Archery: I'd drop Quick Shot for another point in Critical Shot or Overdraw (More Damage). Just my opinion... is that 30% really going to matter? Do you prefer to use your bow at Short to Medium range? Maybe consider Bull's-Eye?

EDIT: Didn't read your reason for not putting more points into Critical Shot or Overdraw.

One-Handed: This is solid considering your build's main focus isn't hack and slash, but sometimes you just have to whip it out and flail it around. (No pun intended...) If anything I'd just suggest taking a point from Armsman and slinging it up there to Savage Strike, power attacks are stronger.. and the decapitation is REALLY satisfying.

(At this point I noticed that the calculator link and your post on the forums do not match, so I'll comment based on the perks you posted.)

One Handed: Solid considering your build isn't focused on hack and slash.

Smithing: Yea, if you plan on taking this dude to 81, I'd definitely max out this skill. Good call.

Light Armor: Okay, I understand.

Alchemy: All this is fine, except for the 2/3 Experimenter. Personally, I suck up ALL INGREDIENTS. I pretty much buy up all the ingredients from vendors (Except for Daedra hearts and Void Salts, too expensive.) when I do my shopping, so I have plenty of stock to experiment with... However, if you want to be able to mix ANYTHING ANYTIME... suppose you could take the second point. So my answer on this, is keep it at 1/3 and save that point for something else. If not, I understand.

Illusion: You explained it good enough for me.

Conjuration: My current Mage (Khazrihl LVL 39) is mainly a Conjure mage... rock out with your atronach out... my friend. (OMG, totally just coined a sweet phrase.)

Destruction: Fine by me, I totally agree with not getting Intense Flames, you have Illusion if you want them to flee.

Enchanting: Personally I feel that Soul Squeezer is a waste, but if you want more bang for your buck, be my guest.

Thanks for your opinions, Khazrihl! Some of your critiques will help me save a perk point or two so I can invest it somewhere more useful. Love the atronach phrase btw, haha.

Yep, I didn't butcher your build too much I don't think... I think I'm only suggesting moving three points... Lets see /Rereads post/ Yea.

One for archery, one for Alchemy, and one for Enchanting. But like I said, it's your build.

Thanks for the thanks!

No, no butchering done at all! Every bit was helpful and I'm glad you gave your opinions. I always appreciate constructive criticism. ;)

LOL at your 1337 posts.

I noticed you don't have any points in Restoration?
I was thinking about a simila build but just being an archer/mage type. this build has helped.
However, I was thinking of using points in the following Restoration perks:
Novice Restoration (1/3)
Respite - for Healing spells restore stamina too
Regeneration - Healing spells cure 50% more
Recovery (2/2) - Magika recovers 50% quicker

I was originally going to go with Restoration, but I chose the Alchemy route instead. Not only can it be used for healing oneself, but it can be used for a multitude of other things in the game (improving armor/equipment, making poisons for bows, etc). It's a really flexible choice and that's why I went with it instead ^_^ That's not to say Restoration is a bad choice by any means, though. It can be utilized for a lot of different types of play (Battlemages and Paladins, for example). I never choose both Restoration and Alchemy with the same character though. It's all up to you and what you think will benefit you most in the end ;) When I play Archers, I always find Alchemy to be best. I enjoy poisoning my bows :p
