Here's something I really don't understand:

When a person undergoes surgery and recovers from a disease they would have otherwise died from, there are two groups of people: The people that praise the surgeons, and the people that praise God. But, of course, people always say "Don't thank God, thank the surgeons."

Which is perfectly understandable. God had a part in it, and gave the surgeons the ability to save the patient, feel free to disagree but don't say anything, but it was the surgeons themselves that actually saved the patient. They were both responsible.

But why is it, then, that when the topic of Osama Bin Laden's death comes up, people always praise Obama, and not the Seals that actually killed him? They're praising the god, not the surgeons.

Obama's involvement in Osama's death was minimal - he gave the okay, he was a signature on a sheet of paper. Why does he deserve any praise whatsoever? He was lucky enough to be in office when Osama was finally killed, nothing more.
