When a regular axe just won't cut it.
The teaser image for the Dragonborn DLC is that of a new, Dragonborn Dragon Priest. This is all of the information we have been given so far, but I will venture to say that he is a Snow Elf.

This may seem counterintuitive, considering that nords were the only known followers of the dragons, but it is not too farfetched to assume that a small group of Snow Elves could have picked up the Dragon Cult, especially considering that they lived in Skyrim alongside the dragons and Nords at the time. Also consider that the mask that the Dragonborn is wearing; if viewed alongside a Falmer helmet, the similarity is obvious.

I agree completely, when I watched the trailer for Dragonborn DLC I knew when it showed the helmet of the so called "other" dragonborn that it had to do something with Snow elves because he lived so long ago. Hopefully this DLC we will be able to play as a snow elf. Yaayy now a PROPER paladin :D

Hmm, while it would be cool to see a Snow Elf as a Dragon Priest, I would not be surprised if the Dragon Priest turns out to be Konarihk, owner of the "hidden mask" that you receive upon collecting the 8 other unique Dragon Priest masks. The trailer showed (from what I recall) an interior shot of Bromjunaar Sanctuary, the Dragon Priest shine, and I always imagined that Konarihk was a Dragon Priest of exceptional power and villainous behaviour, seeing as his mask is central in the Sanctuary and the hardest to acquire. I was disappointed that I was not able to battle this "Chief Dragon Priest," but I am hopeful that he will make an appearance in the Dragonborn DLC.

That is possible, but some speculate that the ethereal dragon priest summoned when a wearer of the Konahrik mask is at low health is *the* Konahrik. And then, of course, there is the matter of the new mask.
Still, can't discount that possibility.

I'm gushing about the additional lore that the third DLC will contribute. My curiosity so far is why is the so called first Dovahkiin been tucked away for so long in time? Was he banished by Alduin himself or did the Dragons and Dragon Priests conspired against him?

I think you may be right in thinking that the new DLC is going to venture further into falmer/snow elf lore. Im also looking forward to see if they include any more information on the dwemer. This is because the dwemer enslaved the snow elves when the elves turned to them for help, thus over a long peroid of time creating the falmer. The dwemer fed them a toxic fungi that turned the snow elves blind so that could keep them in enslavement. Although i do enjoy fighting and killing falmer i can't help but feel a little bit sorry for how they came about in the first place.
Any thoughts?

Clau If one of the most powerful individuals in the world at the time could kill his comrades and absorb their souls, It is very possible that he would be banished to a far-off outpost, perhaps acting as a final executioner to rebellious dragons. Nice Kingdoms of Amalur reference in your title, btw :)

Electro_Funk More lore would be nice, and additional dwemer lore would be welcome. It would be interesting if they put a book in-game written in the dwemer language, and when Calcelmo translated it for you, it started a quest. I share your feelings about fighting falmer, especially as my character is a Snow Elf.

I really like the idea about the quest that would be good fun. Im assuming if your current play through is with a snow elf that your a pc player? I started skyrim on ps3 (got 2 characters retired) then moved to skyrim on the xbox. Although i would love to buy a pc and i will at some point, just moved house with my gf so money is a bit short. Of course you don't have to reply to this part but im just interested, does your snow elf have a back story what skills etc are they specialisiing in? I will send over my current play through back ground story (female kahjit called Ez'eera)

I am hoping for the new Dragonborn Dlc to give a bit more information of the fundamentals of the Skaal way of life and its Religion. Maybe even create a character that has their history of being a once a promising warrior of one of the tribes.

Thanks for the response. Now I am more curious about the First Dovahkiin. Things like what will he say to the current Dovahkiin? His Dovah nature to dominate will lead to an intense interaction I hope.

Further more, I fancy the possible dragon vs. dragon clash. The dragons that sides with you and the dragons that serve him.

(I loved KoA. Played the game extensively, including the 2 DLCs.) :)

ThriceHeart That is very likely, considering that the DLC will occur on the island that they inhabit. I think that there will be at least one major quest involving the skaal

Clau You dueling desperately with an ancient warrior who is more alike to you than any other person in skyrim, while hordes of dragons clash in battle overhead. A pretty epic thought.

I know for sure that a character by the name of Miraak will be a part of the Dragonborn DLC. His name shows up in data files numerous times, including one for a death sequence. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the main antagonist. One of the locations is specifically named "Miraak Temple". If you look at the Dovah language, Miraak would literally mean "Allegiance Guide". Though grammatically incorrect, it can be argued to make sense.

dragonborn-cultist.jpg
The JPG file above is entitled Cultist. In the case of the words allegiance and guide, they could be the loyal servants of a cult he leads. But I strongly disagree with the notion that the first Dragonborn would be a Snow Elf. As far as I'm concerned, they were originally from Skyrim. The Dragon Cult began in Atmora, home of the ancestors of the Nords. These ancestors are known as the Nedes. For this first Dragonborn to be a Nede would make sense because it is believed that some of the first Atmoran immigrants of Skyrim were Dragon Priests and Dragon Cultists. With all that in mind, it wouldn't be too shocking that he has his own cult. Being of great power himself, he may very well have granted them power for complete obedience to him.

After reading over, I am starting to lean with Prof, It would make since for the first dragon born to be a Nede. I have been taking time in Skyrim to read books, and I have come across several books mentioning Nede, some talking about how they were the Nords ancestors, and how the first vampire was a Nede, so I would not be surprised if a Nede was the Dragonborn.

Actually, since Hermaeus Mora is rumored to be involved in the DLC, it is possible that the influence we see on the helmet is his, and not a falmer one. That, combined with what prof said, would make a lot more sense than an isolated cult of Snow Elves.

Nope, not Snow Elf.

I have the DLC (haven't played it yet)

But, I have been trying to get it into the Creation Kit, but ran into some small problems.
For now, I just used an old version of SkyEdit:
