Dark Brotherhood Help!

I found Runil's journal. I took it back to him then he gave me 500 in gold. I went outside the city and turned into a werewolf then returned and killed him and got more gold. Soon after I get a letter from the Dark Brotherhood thanking me for killing him. An hour or so later I'm out wandering in the wild and a Dark Brotherhood assassin comes and trys to kill me what gives?

I wouldnt read to much into it so to speak I'm a member of the Dark Brotherhood and its happened to me before think its just one of those random things

Until you finish the main story line they will come after you even if you are the Listener.

I've run across many of the DB assassin's trying to kill me. They all fail. I think it's a random encounter until you join the DB. So, I wouldn't worry about that.

As for the note thanking you for killing him, never seen that so not sure.

I've had hired thugs come after me but not DB assassins after attaining Listener status.

Best bet is to finish the main DB quest if its annoying you THAT much if not just kill them, they have good gold
