Aden Komad
Misfortunate Soul
"And so what he spoke, came to be..."
Swords and stones may slash, break bone, but words cannot harm me.
So we said, so we believed; thus we were deceived.
But words have power untold, but a power that few can hold.
To create and command reality. Tis a godlike power of utter surety.
But a gift so powerful and grand, was easily corrupted by the evil of man.
Beware dear reader, for if you read more, you too will become part of the lore.
This story is true and never ends, it only ever begins again.
Follow too closely or learn too much, I swear by fate you'll be touched.
Forever an actor in this tale you shall be, ensnared for eternity you shall never be free.
But many continue regardless of this, perhaps ignorance truly is bliss.
Then perhaps it's already too late. This story is now your fate.
I tried to warn you, I tried to be clear. But now you will become one with tale, lose all you hold dear.
Many have tried but all will fail. Gaze into the abyss, pierce the veil.
Say your prayers, run in terror, or stand strong; but no matter what it won't be long.
Will you be simply another lost soul in this endless story?

Those things follow after every town, ever since my lucky break deciphering the story from that insane old man. They haunt my steps and get closer every night. I can see it now. How they take the locals closest to me, even that serving girl from Markarth...she was so young. I pray she forgives me. Her ravaged body haunts me to this day. They're preventing rest or kinship. I haven't slept in eight days. Gods! I nodded off once and they were a few feet away when I woke! I thought this a road to glory, but I am dogged at every step by him. I curse this story and the day I ever heard it. This-this is my last entry...

You asked, so I'm telling you. Don't go. The stories talk of the riches or fame or any other vanity to lure you to listen. Lure you into the tale from which you cannot escape. But never the names of those that go, nor where they supposedly spent their wealth. I heard the same tales as a lad in Riften, felt the same pull, but it's a lie, son. We always ran before we heard too much of that crazy hermit's tale. It may paint a trail, but once you're on it, does it lead to him or back to you?

(Three weathered parchments are found within a splintered, oaken chest deep within an unnamed cavern; with three versions of the same incomplete story.)
And so the gods allowed the clever bard to test his words against theirs. If he could make one cry, one laugh, and one fear a story he wove then he would be given the power of words as only the gods knew. So for six days he wove a tale that's like would never be heard upon this world again. Mara wept, Akatosh laughed, and Stendarr felt fear for the first time if only for a few seconds. Thus the clever bard learned the true nature of words and reality bent, for a time. Until....

Three pages, three ages. But the same story!
Same as the poem, but older!
The signature was torn off on purpose, however some letters remained.
All together I believe it spells "Yirim Agar."
That was the insane man from the cemetery in Falkreath who put me on this path!
All of them from him! In his writing!
Some of these are hundreds of years old! How?
That old man is not who he says he is! He may not even be-(writing ends abruptly)

The plot revolves around a mysterious tale far older than most of written history. Mystery, horror, paranoia, and even darker themes will be featured and explored in a twisted tale where words are far more deadly than any weapon you carry. Will you simply be like all of the others who were drawn into this hidden world of woe and misfortune? Or will you solve a riddle eternity in the making? Band together with the strangers fate has brought together and save the world from a darkness it isn't even aware of. Nirn is on the edge of utter annihilation. It is simply...a word away.
1.) ALL character cards submitted should follow the template. I will look over applications and make a decision normally within a day. Simply posting an application does not guarantee acceptance. Along with that, I would like a sample of original writing. A paragraph is acceptable, but feel encouraged to write more. This is shows us your writing style as well as show me how well, complex, and serious you approach even a simple writing.
2.) Power playing (or, "god modding") will not be tolerated. Give your character reasonable abilities and skills. Do not make them knowledgeable of information they cannot possibly know. A realistic character with believable flaws is much more likable and interesting. This includes 'scripting' other people's characters to perform actions or say something without their expressed permission.
3.) Please try to remain active in the thread. Post regularly, at the very post at least once a week. You are required to explain absences longer than a week or your character will be removed from the roleplay.
4.) Be fair to your fellow role players. Try to make sure all participants are included.
5.) This is a MATURE thread, rated 18+. Profanity, graphic violence, disturbing images, and sexual themes will be included, so please be advised.
6.) However just because this is mature, doesn't mean you should write raunchy sex scenes. Story, not smut. So long as any profanity or sexual themes are included both tastefully, reasonably and at the best of discretion they will be accepted.
7.) Proper spelling, grammar, and sentence structure are required. Type your posts in a word processor for proof reading if it will help. This makes posts easier and better to read. I will be expecting this of all players, so please keep that in mind when applying as it can mean denial.
8.) I would prefer that players in this story be only involved in 2 or 3 other roleplays simultaneously. Simply for the fact that posts are generally of better quality when there are fewer obligations for the player.
9.) Player involvement will be capped at a maximum of 5-6 players, including myself. However players may be invited to create and include their own minor, recurring "NPC" if they so choose. This would be a character of the player's choosing meant to enrich their own experience and the experience of the other players. For example, someone such as a relative or friend of your character. Please understand this doesn’t mean you can have two characters. This “NPC” would not be present at all times, normally disappearing after the beginning few posts. However they can be reintroduced if it ties into the story and makes logical sense. Of course other npcs, such as a generic guard or barkeep, are perfectly acceptable if the situation requires creation of one.
10.) Other than the above rules, all other general forum rules set by Skyrim staff and the forums apply; such as treating all others with respect, no fighting, etc. Thanks and good luck!
