conjuration and armor type

Hello there, I'm currently playing conjuration type, using conjuration as main, with enchanting, restoration, 1 hander as I dont like bow as it hinder switching hands

question is what armor type is good as I am undecided what I should use for optimum build? can be either cloths, light armor or heavy armor?

also what companion type would you recommend for this class? I am thinking initially a tank like lydia, then later when I get demora(spelling?)switch to mage type with conjuration

one of the gripes I have with this game....there's basically no reason to ever deviate from heavy armor, unless it's just an aesthetic choice. Any negative effects it has like weighing a lot, slowing you down, or making it harder to sneak in can be canceled out by perks.
