Silence, My Brother
Please take a moment this day to be thankful to all of our brothers and sisters in Uniform. May you all return safely from the battlefields or where ever you may be.

Freedom in America

Freedom in America
Isn't really free;
We often pay a price
To keep our liberty.

Remember those we loved,
Who fought for us, and died;
And those we never knew
For whom others mourned and cried.

At home our "war" for freedom
Is sadly overdue;
We've let corruption stage
A sad and grievous coup.

No longer can we brush off
Dishonesty and greed,
Lust for wealth and power;
We can't, we won't concede.

Complacency is weakness
Patriots can't afford;
We have to act on wrongs
That cannot be ignored.

We must give up some time,
Spent on other pleasures,
To restore America's freedom,
To keep America's treasures.

Money spent on trifles
Must now go to our cause:
Get rid of the offenders,
Constitutional outlaws.

Freedom in America
Isn't really free
It's up to American patriots;
It's up to you and me.

Silence, My Brother
Let's honor our military,
The men and women who serve,
Whose dedication to our country
Does not falter, halt or swerve.

Let's respect them for their courage;
They're ready to do what's right
To keep America safe,
So we can sleep better at night.

Let's support and defend our soldiers,
Whose hardships are brutal and cruel,
Whose discipline we can't imagine,
Who follow each order and rule.

Here's to those who choose to be warriors
And their helpers good and true;
They're fighting for American values;
They're fighting for me and you.

probably sit back and drink some margaritas..not really much to do or many people to do anything with, i'm more of a loner, I stick to myself; I don't bother anybody. Outside of my squad, my Chain of Command and my family there are very few people I talk to, let-a-lone do things with.

Well my grandpa wishes you a happy and safe Armed Forces day ;) He doesn't quite grasp the internet but I went and told him it was Armed Forces Day and said a soldier friend on the computer reminded me. So he wished you well.

why the solitude? maybe you don't want to talk about it out in public or anything but you can message me if you want?

regardless, I thank you for your service to our country..Lord knows I could not do what you do

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.

I appreciate the hospitality, Tannia. It's nothing terrible, I have just lost alot of my faith in the human race, that about sums it up, I suppose..

You're doing things with us, man. I salute you, Sgt. <3:)<3

lol, thanks bro

You're the first person who made me cry at something on the computer.

God bless America, and those risking their lives to save it.

That includes you, Sarge. <3

You've got the wrong idea. I cried because what you typed was beautiful, IMO.

I salute you, Sergeant. Happy Armed Forces day. (if it weren't for my asthma, I'd be a soldier myself)

well, in that case, Thank You Very Much.

keep trying, you'd be surprised who can get in with enough will-power and stick-to-itive-ness (unless it is a sever case, but if it's not just don't say anything.)

Same here.

I found this, and I thought of you, Sky..I thought it was especially fitting after that talk we had the other day, a part of it brought tears to my eyes and I don't think I'll have to tell you which one.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One half of one percent,
Defending you and me.
At outposts in the desert,
In planes and ships at sea.
Every one, a volunteer,
The reasons why are varied.
The burden borne, for all of us,
Is quite a load to carry.
Never knowing, minute-wise,
What will happen next.
Will today, be the day,
They draw their final breath?
Wearing masks of macho,
They go to work each day.
But folks back home are scared to death,
And n’er forget to pray.
Friends go off to college,
At Ivy Leaguer schools.
To learn the art of drinking,
And then call soldiers fools.
Soldiers, who can field-strip,
A weapon down to parts.
Then put it back together,
While sittin’ in the dark.
Soldiers, who with bare hands,
Can save another’s life,
Then stand in line for hours,
To read e-mail from his wife.
Soldiers, who hear loved ones talk,
On signal-dropping phones.
And cannot give an answer to;
“When ya comin’ home?”
Soldiers, with esprit de corps,
And shared camaraderie,
Who love the taste of freedom,
Life and liberty.
Soldiers, who, when things get rough,
Won’t turn their backs and run.
And if they lose their life,
They’ll die, their duty done.
Some are “only” wounded,
Blasted, burned or maimed.
Facing years of coping,
Daily with the pain.
Because of TBI,
These valiant girls and boys,
Feel like cast-off rejects on
The Isle of Misfit Toys.
Some will try to keep their problems,
Buried deep inside.
Then, when finally overcome,
“Escape” through suicide.
Despite the missing parts,
Pain and grafted skin,
Most will NEVER surrender,
Their foe will NEVER win.
Blow US up, break our bones,
Cause the loss of hearing.
NOTHING you can ever do
Will break our fighting spirit!
Young men and young women too,
Standing in defense.
Hero’s, every single one,
This half of one percent.

That is a very powerful poem. No, you don't have to tell me which part. Hey what are you doing this weekend for Memorial Day? I could be persuaded to bring my boat over to the Ozarks if you are interested? Let me know so I can put a plan together
