Name: Philip Baudin
Age: 43
Race: Breton
Class: Butler
Skills: Cool. Calm. Collected. Always. In his line of work, one must not get flustered as one of the worst things a butler could do is put his flusteredness on display for all to see. Master Labeau must always know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he and his name would never be brought to shame or ridicule. This was an important part of his job as butler, if not the most important part. This was the mark of a good butler, and Philip Baudin was better than good at what he did for a living.
Appearance: A lean 6’3”, his frame always made that butler attire look good. He enjoyed looking dapper for the guests, but especially when there was a special occasion to be celebrated or recognized. Twice, Master Labeau strayed from the usual black-and-white suit to one of red-and-white. Sadly, he couldn’t recall the occasions, but he did enjoy a break from the routine. He wore his hair short, with no facial hair to speak of. Less fuss.
Background: Born to a middle-class family, he couldn’t remember ever wanting for anything, as his parents always provided for their children whatever was necessary. This, of course, included a roof over their heads, food on the table, and clothes on their backs. Trifles such as toys were never considered a necessity, so he and his brother and sister had just a few toys between them. But on those special occasions when his mother or father would surprise him with a toy of his own, or a toy to be shared with his siblings, well, those were the most joyous of days.
He achieved the position of butler under Master Labeau, by working his way up through the ranks. Whatever his job was at the time, he did to the fullest. He minded his manners, kept his tongue, and was civil to everyone, no matter their rank in life. His parents insisted he learn and abide by these traits, which he did. When the previous butler decided to retire, he took Baudin under his wing. It was without question that the young man was the most obvious candidate to take his place and run the Labeau household. The job was his, and he’d been at it ever since.
Personality: In one word: Loyal. For Baudin, there was a pecking order for his loyalties and it went like this: Master Labeau. The master’s wife and son. The other individuals on staff, for he knew them for years, and they had all been through a lot with the master and his foibles. Anyone else? For Baudin, there was no anyone else.
By now, he had learned and knew firsthand of the rich and powerful and their condescending ways. Not all of them were like that, however, but those were, sadly, few and far between. He loved his job and his master, as he was always treated fairly and well. But for those who he felt truly deserved it, there was always an icy tongue and an attitude lying in wait for them.
