Very Dangerous Nobody
I went to a best buy here in N. Cali the other day, and one of the employees had his ps3 plugged into one of the new gen 4 tv's (resolution is like 2600xwhatever the fluff it is... super crisp clean picture). The rendering device that takes 1080 (my ps3 always seems to play Skyrim in less than...) to the gen 4 resolution works pretty darn well with Skyrim. The kid was battling some forsworn, so I hung out for a bit. I was pretty 'Wow'ed by the clarity of graphics I already considered awe inspiring.

Now to get 4000 for a new tv....

Would you share your little "wow" or "omg really?" or "holy crud that was cool" moments with the rest of us? All those tiny things that go into making this a supremely amazing and deep game.

I had one just recently, something small that knocked my socks off. I was getting into a carriage, and the driver, as part of idle chat, appropriately referenced the weather. An NPC. Noticed the weather. And mentioned it. DUDE.

I know, dumb nothing, but things like that are startling and incredible because of the depth they add to the game.

How 'bout you?

My best wow moment is when I got deadric armor from smithing all the way to 100 and then en bringing my enchanting to 100 so I enchanted my armor, I am a mage so I followed a tutorial and enchanted it and a ring and necklace with mostly destruction and magic and stamina and carry because of the haevy ness so now the armor doiesnt weigh a thing and none of my destruction spells cost anything so I can keep casting forever without ever worring about the magica even if its a master dustruction spell or an expert like mine and my deadric one handed swrod is good and I am only level 40 and I am on my way to go to soverngarde to beat alduin

Got an "explosive chickens" mod (Chickens create a huge explosion when killed) and bought animals for my pens in Lakeview. Soon, there was a bandit attack as I was heading to my home. I hear this huge "boom" out of nowhere, and look at the pile of dead bandits. They had killed 2 of the chickens and set off the blasts. It was really funny, though I do miss the chickens.

My first "wow" moment was when I how much detail they put into the bloodstains on the Abandoned Shack. I didn't really start paying attention until that. I thought it was beautiful they took the time to do small details like that and make it look like real blood.

I did the Coming of Age quest in Ironbind Barrow (at the Winterhold/Pale border) earlier—the one where you help Beem-Ja kill Gathrik, and then Beem-Ja turns on you and tries to murder you as a blood sacrifice. Except this time, once Gathrik had fallen, Beem-Ja was nowhere to be seen. I figured Gathrik or one of the other draugr had killed him, shrugged, collected my treasure, and went on my merry way.

Three game-days later, I woke up in the Silver-Blood Inn in Markarth, ready for a new day of dragon-hunting. And all of a sudden, in walks Beem-Ja, naked but for a loincloth, and he gives me his spiel about using me as a blood sacrifice to absorb Gathrik's power.

That guy is persistant.

My wow moment was when I bunched 3 bears and 2 spriggans to death with my fists

A.K.A the dragon slayer from hell and back that also like shooting guys in the face with his bow of awesomenessery.

I'd only play Oblivion before Skyrim, and even then, not very much. So my first wow moment was during the intro attack in Helgen. Just seeing the various guards around me try to fight this almighty dragon. The game felt very alive.

My next one came soon after, when I escaped Helgen and first walked free. It was (and still is) stunning for someone new to open world RPGs.

Of course now I have lots of mods to make the game feel even more alive and endless, but those are moments in my gaming career that I'll never forget.

Once, I remember I was in the Hunningbrew Meadery on the second floor, and there were no lights, except for the windows. There were beams of light coming through the window just like in real life, and in the light you could see thousands of specks of dust floating around, and they looked just like real life. Its amazing how much detail they put into this game.

I just came across the Old Orc simultaneously fighting a spriggan and a sabrecat, with two other sabrecats already dead beside him. No, I don't think I'll be trying to give you a good death today, thanks...

A "wow" moment for me was when I was sprinting towards Ivarstead and a giant spawned in front of me and whacked me over the Throat of the World.

I had just set Meridia's Beacon and initiated the Break of Dawn quest. While she had me hovering thousands of feet above Skyrim, I looked down........ to see a dragon circling underneath me!

In the same hour of game play I had to defeat TWO dragons at Dawnstar at the same time, as well as one opportunistic Giant. I fared better than anyone else there. It was absolute mayhem. All I can say is that Dawnstar is now less a few guards and citizens.. :/ As well as having two skeletal dragons and a giant body barricading their only road out of town.
