Last night I had another one when I received Dawnstar, I almost pooped my pants thinking I was gonna die as I was ascending into the sky... Thought a giant caught me off guard,

The gate slammed down, puncturing the witch's corpse with the spikes on the bottom, then slid back up, taking the witch's body with it. The corpse just hung there lifelessly. It was awesome.

that exact thing happened to me today in some Dwarven ruins.
it was so awesome, I kept activating the gate over and over.
"going up.... going down.... going up...."

A really cool moment I had was when I was fighting a dragon and out of nowhere, a 2nd dragon came down. So I was fighting 2 DRAGONS. AT THE SAME TIME.

I played skyrim for over 24hours this weekend.

my moments:

-some drunk dude called an elf lady in the embassy a "frigid bitch"
-I killed a dragon in solitude and now everytime I go back the dragon is in a different place in weird positions, wings flapping with the skin on.
-I fast traveled to some alchemists cottage (my cottage now mwahahaha) and got attacked by 2 sabre cats, a bear and 2 dragons.
-Was walking to a hold and a goat started ramming me, causing actual damage. more of a wtf moment

I have a new wow moment to add. Was following the main quest line to get the elder scroll from blackreach. That whole place was a wow moment.

All the dwarven soldiers and they're mechanics to them and the whole place made it all seem futuristic and creepy. I also LOVE the puzzles they've put into this game. Adds a whole new level of fun for me.

The part that had me a bit scared about the blackreach area was when you go down and it's dark and you have those jellyfish like things floating above you. And you can't even see your character at some points going through there. But I was too nervous to bring out my torch incase it brought attention to me. Oooh I love this game.

It may have taken me a couple hours on two days to get through that cave but it was worth it for the memories. Died a lot of times. Thank goodness for the stations they have in that cave, otherwise I'd still be there.

I think that probably one of my most epic moments so far was wandering about in the dark - I was heading toward a quest marker or something - and a dragon swooped over my head. When it came about and circled back, I glanced up and another flew over and up a mountain side. I turned to see where it went and saw a THIRD dragon off in the distance, breathing fire on something (more than likely, a giant or mammoth). I took the first one out, while the second was distracted by something else. Then I caught that one's attention, took him down and went after the third. I almost couldn't carry all the bones they dropped but it was kind of like a turning point in the game for me; it felt as if Alduin was getting ahead of me in the main story and releasing the Dragons left and right, while I was faffing about with my house and making sure all of my books were in alphabetical order.

Had a most awesome moment this weekend.
Just completed working my way through Stendarr's Beacon and came outside on to the top of the castle turret. Grabbed the stuff in the trunk and was looking around. Realized it was dawn and the sun was coming up. I could tell which way the sun was from my shadow so I faced that direction and watched. I zoomed back to third person view to see more and was amazed. The sun came up, but was mostly cloudy still, but you could tell it was there. I sat for like five minutes watching and the whole time you could see my shadow slowly moving too.
I was like COOL! and wished the clouds weren't there. The view was amazing too.

Oh yeah, had another one this weekend...
Fighting a dragon at it's lair, can't remember which one though, and it wouldn't stand still so I kept blasting it with lightning. Got it to the point it couldn't fly anymore and it crash landed. Left this big furough in the ground. I was laughing so hard I nearly missed dodging it's last breath attack before my follower walked up to it and hit it on the nose with her war hammer and killed it.
I'd seen one of them foroughs before but didn't realize what caused it until this point.
Oh and I had one dragon crash into the river along the road to Markarth. That was another funny time.

Bear in the House: A Horror Story

When I'm not decorating my breezehome with Dwemer artifacts, I like to seek out unmarked spots on the map, grab my Elven bow, and go exploring.

A few moments ago I was exploring north of Windhelm and got chased by a very angry cave bear (a Bethesda Grizzly). Anyway, this bear was more fierce than the black bears in the southern regions. it chased me all the way to a small farm by the river, and with my health dwindling I managed to escape into the farm, and during the loading screen I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Phhhheww!

The next thing I knew I was standing safely inside the farmhouse. or so I thought. not a second later a loud roar echoed through the room. I looked left: CAVE BEAR. Suddenly it stood on its two hind legs and started roaring and flashing its teeth. The farmer heroically attacked it with her dagger while I regenerated my health near the bed (bitch move, I know). Anyway, the farmer lady was in beast mode and she rocked the bears world. She vaporized its dignity and shat on its heart.
All she needed from me was two Dwarven arrows to the dome of the bear, and the angry beast was slain.

After the terrifying encounter I walked back toward Windhelm. For the first time, the skies were clear and the fresh snow powdered the landscape. Windhelm's beauty caught me totally by surprise. The lighting was pristine and the exterior of the city looked like a winter wonderland. It looked beautiful inside the gates too. Amazing how much better a place looks when its not in a blizzard. If the skies were clear more often I'd consider living here.

I'm still rather new to the game and just hit lvl 8 last night. I made the trek from Whitehold (where you get the quest to kill your first dragon...I think that's the name?) up to the town by the Mage Collge. It took me a couple of hours because I kept finding stuff to fight and getting distracted...but while I was on my way, it got dark and a blizzard started. It was pretty stunning.

(On a separate note, I had planned on finally getting to the college last night and starting the quests, but when I got to the town beside it, it was time for Monday Night Football so I grudgingly turned off the Xbox....then the damn game got delayed because the ghetto-ass stadium in San Francisco blew a transformer...needless to say I could have kept playing for about an hour :/ )

Don't let the distractions get to you and stay in game. There's nothing outside of Skyrim!
:p

Quite a few wow moments but most of them arn't the good kind.

I wow:
everytime my caster character is one shot with an arrow...

when a dragon chomped me and tossed my corpse while I was on the other side of a large pillar...

when my same caster character is one shotting bosses with an iron dagger...

everytime I remember there's no way to upgrade spell damage besides alchemy potions and perks yet I can do over 3500 damage with a single charged dual blade attack (non crit)...

and lastly I wow everytime I load the game and realize that despite it's obvious flaws it's probably one of the best every made to date and I love it!!!

Iv been an FPS player since i was about 13-14 (now 23) and the amount of "wow" moment in this has blown me away, I've tryd a few RPG's before but none have been as good as this. My best "wow" was when i was climbing a mountain and when i got way up high it started snowing so hard i could hardly see infront of me, it was so real i couldnt beleve it!

I would have posted sooner in this thread, but so many of you have shared similar "wow" moments to my own and I didn't want to repeat ^_^

This game has left me with my jaw dropped more times than I can count- whether it be because of the beautiful landscapes, exciting quest moments, random events, or just the sheer detail that's been put into it. I'm a very visual person and believe that sometimes the smallest of detail can tell an entire story.

I don't know whether I'm alone in viewing videogames this way because I'm an artist in real life, but walking through Skyrim is not only great fun, but very touching in a way. When my character is running through a forest, I don't view it as me just running through a forest, but instead, me running through a 3-D collage painting made up of the ideas, imaginings, and hard work of tons of artists. It's the closest thing to being inside of someone else's head, in my opinion. Okay, I'll stop being cheesy, I promise.

Anyways...my most recent wow moment was during a Companions quest. While looting bodies, I noticed one of the bodies had a book on them. It was easy to miss because his body was all the way in a dark corner. It was one of the books in the game that belong to a series. It just so happened that the volume they were carrying related to the Companions. I know, this might not seem too interesting, but I just find little nuances like that to make for an added level of intrigue.

I also enjoy walking into the local inns to eavesdrop. Just last night while playing, my character went to go cook something in the Bannered Mare. As my character was cooking, I could overhear a few conversations taking place in the other room. Instead of turning up the volume, I instead leaned in to listen. In that moment, I felt like I was really in the game.

I was running from Morthal due to being pursued by guards and as i finally evaded them, i had a unique thought. Why not simply walk the whole way to the dark brother hood guild from here. This was the best decision in the game so far as the views i saw where just breath taking. I emerged into a valley shortly after Morthal and was just like "holy damn this game is beautiful"
No joke, it was one of the best sights in Skyrim ive seen so far
Also the sense of adventure was just 'wow'. Nothing beats travelling on foot to your destinations, it just makes the whole game seem flowing and real!

When I saw my first werewolf. It looked amazing. And when I saw the first dragon. And when I killed the first dragon. Realizing I played all day yesterday and am barely level 11.

Well, I once managed to find myself between a group of bandits, a tribe of giants and two of their mammoths, three Imperial Soldiers and a dragon. 'Twas a pretty epic scene that followed.
