I wouldn't bother wearing the smithing ring while you're out in the world. You only have to put it on while you smith (whether you keep it on you, or in a container with smithing materials).

While out adventuring, I use a necklace and ring that each increase one-handed damage. When I get the 2 enchantment perk, I will make new ones that have 1H/resistances.

I have 3 other sets of jewelry for bartering, alchemy and smithing. I keep the bartering ones on me to equip whenever dealing with a vendor.

I also have seperate sets of gear for smithing and alchemy. I'm only using Proudspire Manor, Breezehome and Honeyside as crafting hubs at the moment, so each of those houses has a 4-piece set of both.

In my travels I wear a necklace of extreme stamina (boosts by 60 points) which I bought at some vendor, though I'll likely be swapping it for the Gauldur Amulet once I find the final piece. In addition I wear a custom-made ring which boosts 2-handed damage by 35%.

I carry a lot of rings and necklaces and have them marked as favourites then switch between them as necessary. After all they don't weigh much.

I like to do the same as the others. When I find gear for smithing and alchemy I keep them together on the table for alchemy or on the dresser/barrel that I keep my smithing components.
As for wearing I usually have a ring and necklace for which ever combat mode I'm currently using or going to use.

That necklace you get after the thieves guild quests let's you get away with any non violent crime

Sorry, I'm not familiar with this necklace and I've completed the Thieves Guild. What is the name of it?

In general I wear a Ring Magicka+32 and the Galadur Amulet Health/Stam/Mag all+30. But I've got some other items on my person at all times for different tasks (Lockpicking neckalce and ring which I often forget to take off and run into battle with, Necklace of Minor Haggling and mask of Volskung (sp?) for bartering, a ring of increased carrying+32 for getting those last few items fast-traveled back home). And I keep smithing and alchemy sets at my home for those tasks. Really wish you could make enchantment-increasing items. That, or a reliable resource for Enchantment potions...

I do this all the damn time. I wonder why a particular fight that should be simple seemed a bit harder, and find I forgot to switch back to my combat gear after selling or picking a lock or whatever, and I am fighting with about half my normal armor rating, lol.

Yeah, before I got the Skeleton Key and leveled up my Lockpicking, I would use my Leather Bracers of Lockpicking, then forget to take them off. This was a problem for me because I am a Heavy Armor user. I also carry Volsung, but for the off chance I find I need to do some underwater exploring.

I have a ring/necklace set for most situations. But my go to is a Ring of Resurgence which is +80% to magika regeneration and a custom necklace which is +61 fortify health. I'm lvl 97 enchanting so when I hit lvl 100 and get the double enchant perk I will be making all new stuff.
