As you may have seen in that video I do roleplay in skyrim from time to time. For me it is if a certain quest feels right or a certain guild that makes me feel emersed in the game, i may accidently role play :p But what about you guys?

I enjoy creating different histories and backgrounds for my characters, and depending on how I feel about them will influence my gameplay :) So, in a sense, yes I do Role Play in-game, but I also Role Play online using my characters from the game (generally 3rd person narrative RP). I think Role Playing within the game makes it feel more immersive and more personal to the player.
:D

Also, ApacheDemon, I really enjoyed your video! You have an awesome accent!

For the third time (but not the last), I get so into character that when my guy dies, I die a little inside.

The Experimentalist
Full background story, realism (must sleep every night), and journaling. It's pretty fun

I find myself talking to my idiot follower and my brainless Atronach all the time ("What are you doing over there? Oh, god, you're dead again? Get on with it!"), does that count? :p

Question for role-players... Do you guys ever walk? :)

Totally sweet
Does roleplaying as a 21st century 24 year old who traveled to a different world altogether and aquired special powers and can now run around obliterating all the sad fools in Tamriel count?

Actually now you mention it, yes, sometimes if I'm doing a walk-with-me-and-I'll-show-you-something quest, I typically walk alongside the person rather than run past them. It only seems polite.

Thats freaking badass!!!
thanks! you should try it. It's a very rewarding project.

yes, I do. I usually just run around most of the time but when I am indoor, like shops or inn, I walk. I also slowly walk towards every dragon scriptures or defeated dragon or anything unique, really.

Before I go to bed, I write a role-playing journal, recounting everything that happened on that day from my character's perspective. I post them here as blog entries. It's pretty fun and you get invested in your character pretty well.
This is such a great idea! I think I'll give it a try, I can imagine it makes the gaming experience much more personal!

Of course! It only seems polite to walk with an NPC when holding a conversation; and I generally walk while indoors or at night through the towns and villages (don't want to wake everyone up with my armour clanking about as I run!)

Question to other Role Players: Do any of you leave offerings at the various shrines/temples? I tend to leave some coin and mountain flowers at Talos' temple and shrines throughout Skyrim. I also leave flowers over the skeletons of slain Dragons. It just feels . . . Correct, somehow. :p

I'm curious, you say before going to bed, In RL or in Game?
Do you keep notes as you play? Like, went here, did that, found such and such and then write a a journal entry from that or do you just write it down from memory of the things you did in that session of game play?

in-game sleep. I don't usually take any note. I only take them if I need to quit the game without finishing the journal for the day. I just write down everything I can remember on that in-game day to keep it realistic. If I forget, it probably wan't important. But role-playing, you can sometimes get little details down for good flavor.

I never considered role playing, but now I have lots of ideas! Dress up as a Whiterun Guard annd patrol the streets, dress as a Mage and wander the halls of Windhelm, etc. I may just have to start dressing the part whenever I go to a new city! Thanks for adding a whole new level of play depth for me!
