Question about Mage Armor

The Mage Armor skill under the Alteration tree says:

"Protection spells like Stoneflesh are 2x as strong if not wearing armor"

My question is... Does this mean you need to be naked to get this perk? That doesn't seem right to me, or does this mean you just need to be wearing cloth and not leather, iron, etc. Or do you actually need to be naked? What about shields?

My guess is it just means armour. Shield falls under apparel so it could mean this too.

Best way to check is to trial and error it by looking at your active effects in the magic tab while trying different variations.

I'm pretty sure it means you can wear cloth, like clothes or robes. Anything that is hide or higher would be considered armor and would negate the bonus.

My interpretation was that robes (with 0 armor) don't count as armor. So long as none of your apparel adds to your armor, the 2-3x multiplier should be in effect.

so Ebonyflesh make you 300 armor rate.
