A Brute among Beasts
I've finally done it! Urag gro-Shab, you shall no longer be alone!
Starting a new playthrough as Mogrod the Crooked, I quickly discovered that my naturally low magicka reserves and resistances were to be quite the hinderance. Even as I focus on getting as much magicka as I can and minimizing spell costs, this leaves me very vulnerable to attack, mainly because casting Oakflesh almost completely drains my magicka bar. Even by the time its recovered enough for me to start throwing fireballs, the effect has usually worn off (unless I dip my beak into a rapidly dwindling supply of Magicka potions). I know using the novice alteration perk seems like an obvious solution, but those perks are all going towards destruction and Illusion ATM, because at the start my damage output was pathetic.
So I had an idea; why not be a Battlemage! I already have a racial advantage using heavy armour, and it would definatly shore up my defences (without the need for flesh spells). But that wasn't my plan for when I made this character (Neither was being a regular mage either, but a Captain-America esque Spell-shield fighter), and it would mean I would have low magicka [regeneration], unless I used Enchanting, but my perks per level would already be spread thin enough....
So my question for you folks is, where should I invest my perks in for defence? Alteration, Heavy armour or Block?
