Missing Shadowmere

Hey guys.
I got shadowmere a few days ago from from Astrid but not as a gift, for a quest.
When I rode on this horse I fast traveled to the place where you defeat cicero and
Astrid's husband laying on the floor bleeding.
SO I talk to him yada yada yada.
I leave shadowmere outside while I go fight Cicero.
When I return outside, I notice that shadowmere is gone, along with Astrid's husband.
So I went to turn in the quest and she said I could keep him but I do not know where he is.

either a glitch or shadowmere was killed. It happened to me, i went to a dungeon. Rather than fighting the mobs outside I just went inside thinking once the screen loads whatever is happening outside stops. when I came out he was gone so I think he was killed. I only really need him to climb mountains. I can move fast without him anyways

Fast travel again and shadowmere might come back.
