Has anyone read or have theories on what exactly defines a "small" chance for the instant kill? I was using it for awhile, but can't say that I ever invoked the kill. Is there some kind of indicator to know if you've triggered this action (outside of the opponent dying... I go dual handed and in the flurry it's not always clear how the death blow was delivered). I've replaced it with better weaponry, but in the face of a truly difficult opponent I wonder if it's worth keeping it stashed.

As far as I can tell there's no indication beyond the enemy just up and dying. I've had it happen a few times for me, killed a giant with the effect after my sneak attack failed.

In Oblivion it was dependent on the luck attribute, which made it anywhere from like a 2%-6% (2% at 20 luck, 6% at 100) chance. Since there aren't any attributes in Skyrim, I honestly have no idea. Maybe they rounded it off to a 2, 3, 4, or 5% chance. Haha, who wants to stab 100 giants once each and find out for us?
