Lydia Bug - Help!

Hello! I just started playing Skyrim again after a 2 months break. I created a new characeter because I didnt want to continue on my first char which I cheated on in the beginning because I was bored when after a while when I bought Skyrim. Anyways, when I became Thane of Whiterun Lydia never appeared. I read that Lydia might sometimes not appear at all which means I had to use console to get her, which I did. I've been running with Lydia for a while now and when I started the Companion guild quests I changed follower to the companion guy because you needed him for the first quest. When I came back Lydia wasnt in my house and I was lucky that I had her ID in the console so I could teleport myself to her and she was just standing still in Markath outside Cidhna Mines. At least I know where to find her when I let her go, but its still so annoying that she wont stay in my house in Whiterun. Please I really want to fix this somehow, any suggestions?

why do you want to keep her? move on, she's annoying. She died in mine right after i got her, I upgraded to a nord dude who always has my back.

Sure I can make her stay in my house but if I tell her that I dont need her anymore she will walk out of the house and move to markath. I Havn't reached too far into the game yet, just started with guild quests after completing the main quest chain. I cant be arsed to hire companions. I like gearing up the housecarls but since Im only thane of Whiterun and I can't really get anything else at the momemt.

I haven't got very far in the game but I came across Hillgrund's tomb (was on the way to the greybreads) and I helped the nord there, Golldir, so I asked him to help me as a follower and he did. So not had to pay him or anything. I know a lot of people like to brave it alone but I like the company ;-)

She isn't real, so it won't hurt her feelings.

Hm, not really true in all cases. I told her it's time to part ways and ever since, she is hanging out in Breezehome, most of the time in my bed room even.

But then, I didn't have the glitch where she doesn't show up. The UESP Wiki lists a bug where she doesn't show up anymore if you dismissed her after finishing the Battle for Whiterun quest as a stormcloak.

I believe, if you are Thane of Whiterun you get a housecarl, Lydia. You have to buy a house to become Thane, so she should be there when you go to your house. Afterward, when you have her stop following you, she should go back to the home. I haven't tried this yet, as I just left her in the house, but my Khajiit buddy (Kharjo)got forced let go when I took the last companions quest. So, now I have Lydia. Once I find the khajiit though, she's being sent home.

LOL, yeah Lydia I think get's stuck in the room if she sits down in the chair in your bedroom. she can't seem to get around the door so she sits back down and then is stuck in a loop. that's why I just took her with me.

I wonder if you go back to the new Jarl of Whiterun after the battle as a stormcloak, if you become thane again, will she show back up. Hmmm... probably find out that as I'm on that path right now.

If you don't own Breezehome, I know Lydia hangs out up in Dragon's Reach. I wonder if she's mistakenly being routed there for some reason for some folks even if they do own Breezehome.

I am curious if anyone knows if there is a quest related to the headless horseman at the little graveyard behind dustmans cairn? He's only there at night. Also any info about the curious silver mold found in pinewatch dungeon?

Start another new game. Make sure all old saves have been deleted. If Lydia prefers to go to Markarth instead of Whiterun, take that as a hint that you aren't the avatar for her

Since you have access to console commands, couldn't you just delete (or kill) her and then go back to Breezehome and respawn her there?

(I'm a 360 player, so pardon me if the above isn't possible)

I played with Stormcloaks and I just ran around in whiterun to find side quest and apperently I could talk to the new jarl and become Thane again. He said that i would get a housecarl and boom Lydia spawned. I don't know where she went tho, I'll try to find her and then kill the console spawned one and maybe its fixed Im having another problem tho, when the new Lydia talked her named didnt show but instead it was "Lookup Failed" and that happens when Im talking the aela the huntress from the companion guild. Im going to make a new thread about this but if somebody knows how to fix this I would appreciate it!
