Lollygaggin'

May be a somewhat wierd question but can anyone tell me what lollygaggin means, am guessing its an American term as have never heard it before.

I don't think it's uniquely American. My mother used to use the term frequently, and we're from the north of England.

It means hanging around/loitering/generally doing nothing.
