A lot of the "large" decisions were democratic if I recall correctly, such as the vote in Athens regarding the Persian invasion by Xerxes II.

I don't think they've told us about the second AD

((Still, they couldn't elect a leader and I believe voting topics had to be proposed. Ignoring that, it'd be something to learn.

Also, I can't speak Khajiiti when discussing our world. Breaks character, which is why I use OOC brackets.))

The Empire is Roman not Greek. They have far more in common with the Romans than they do the Greeks. The structure of their army, pantheon and so forth. I can see how some people would equate them with the Greeks, due to the face that there are still kings and nations that comprise the Empire. In the Empire and not just one "Ruler". The Greeks had a number of kings and "Allied" City-State, I use the term loosely because they always seemed to fight one another until a greater chance for conquest or an outside force was applied. But all in all they more closely resemble the Romans, because they try and seed their culture in their provinces. The Greeks were not really know for this. Unless you count Alexander, but he tended to kill anyone that got in his way.

The Nords are a straight up Pseudo-Viking culture. Their class structure (minus slaves), culture, tactical doctrines, and heck even in some cases their jargon and vernacular.

o_O As for the new Aldmeri Dominion I can't really say, they seem like some form of Nazi-Magocracy, minus the Socialism. But with all the ethnic cleansing and attitude of the 3rd Reich. When I first played I half expected some of them to do the Goose-Step when they marched. Not much is know about their culture other than they like to kill people who don't agree with their views.

Anyway you guys have fun, I have to go pack for camping with my in-laws and their kids that I would rather have a root canal with out any pain killers that be around for more than 5 minutes.

((Roman? The imperials?! Nonsense! They are clearly Bolivian.))

Here's a good tip. Do not try put real world into the TES world. TES was written by gamers, not historians. It is loosely based on many cultures, but it is still a fantasy game.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Stormcloak 110%!
110% of what? I'm a Stormcloak currently and I've never known any of us to give more than, say, 50% to anything. I see us as kind of the Teamsters of Skyrim. :)

I know that, but I still don't think we're giving our all. Too much hanging out at camp and making me do the dirty work. Get in there guys! Gut some imperials! Don't make me do all the work.

I don't know if you know who the Teamsters are, but they are a notorious Labor Union over in the States that has a reputation for sitting around drinking coffee and being surly when they should be working.

Stop that. It's a comparison (you do it all the time). As a Stormie, I do not believe we give 110%, 100% or even 50% in general. If we put in more effort, we probably would be more successful. That was my point. You needn't get testy. Did you read my first paragraph. It is about the Stormies after all.

By the way - I like you're bear picture. :)

I give up King. No joke, you're on my ignore list now. Sorry. I can't see through the fog of your argument.

Frost trolls are gay.
There are so many pages that it's almost impossible for me to search enlightment for my doubt.

So I ask (probably again) :
If I've joined the "Stormcloak Rebellion", can this have a negative impact on the main questline (going to Blackreach, killing Alduin, etc) ?
From what I've read on the wikia, it seems that it can only affect the giving of one single quest: Season Unending.
It doesn't seem like a very important quest, but I'm wondering if there can be more than that.
  • Depending on the order in which they are completed, the Civil War can have an impact on the Main Quest, and vice versa. In the main quest, Season Unending is a meeting between four factions (the Stormcloaks, the Legion, the Blades and the Greybeards) to negotiate a truce, which temporarily pauses the Civil War.
    • If the Civil War is completed before Season Unending, the peace conference is not held, and the latter quest does not occur.
    • If Season Unending is completed before the Civil War ends, it will change territories under the control of both the Imperials and the Stormcloaks.
  • A bounty may be cleared when the relevant Hold is liberated or reunified during the Civil War.
  • The game begins in Empire-controlled Helgen, which is destroyed by Alduin and plays no further role in the Civil War.
  • When you find the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak, the dossier that if either side (the Legion, or the Stormcloaks) were to win the civil war, the Thalmor's position in Skyrim would be affected negatively.
From how it started I can assume that I have to help Ulfric conquer all of the holds, and probably afterwards he'll became the High King... or I'll become it, I don't know. (although, come to think of it, banging Elisif sounds quite intriguing :D )
My first worry was that I could loose my houses, housecarl and goods. But it seems that in Whiterun nothing happenned to them.
So, in conclusion:
If I continue the Stormcloak Rebellion, will I still be able to:
- find my house in Solitude ok ;
- access the stores (Warmaiden's, Arcadia's Cauldron - which seem closed after Whiterun's assault) ;
- kill Alduin and finish the game ;
And is "Season Unending" such an important and fun quest ?
Many thanks.

From all the hours i have played, when i've chosen stormcloaks there has never been a problem with anything exept rubble in whiterun and solitude. I chose stormcloaks coz they want to be free from imperials and never bow to the thalmor who is hunting them down(like the mission missing in action) for believing in talos.

If you think about this it all fits in, Lafayette was a french helping the americans to fight against the british during the american revolution. It's similar to skyrim civil war if you replace the government with imperials and people with skyrim.http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/m/marquisdel125935.html
