How to turn off messages coming to my email?

I'm getting sick of deleting email that tells me about every reply I get on this forum. I already have alerts at the top, so why does it have to come to my email? I tried to screw around with the preferences, but nothing worked!

well as of now the only way is to go to each followed thread and unfollow it or to edit your preferences so as not to recieve emails from followed threads, also when you post there is a checkbox that asks if you wish to recieve email notices from replys to that thread.

I have a new wrinkle on this, I am recieving email notices from conversations and there is no place to turn those off or to unselect them when forming those.
