I think I beat the main story, killing alduin?.... right?

So now what? I completed the Mage college story line, but have yet to join the imperials, stormcloaks or whomever is left....

If I join either side do I actually get the opportunity to defeat the other side?

yep i beleive thats it. i have done that and mages too. so now just joing theives and companions then dark brotherhood. and in between ill chase dragon words and deadric shrines, also many little missions to keep you amused, every big town seems to have its own story with a side to choose from..

im not sure about defeating the other side but if you take the stomcload missions imperials will automaticly be failed and vise versa..

I was a bit disappointed that killing Alduin was the end without much fanfare. I know I can go back and complete side quests, but to be honest, the main quest really seemed to end pretty quickly.
