I gotta say, once I finished the main quest chain and killed Alduin, I was kinda disapointed that there was no final video, or anything other than some talk from the grey beards leader....oh well, at least it was a fun ride till the end...and there is still other side quest chains to finish...

I didn't beat the story until level 65, and I felt that the whole thing was really the weakest/least engaging part of the game. It was just a drawn out play-through of "Go hear to be told how evil the dragon is. You will then be instructed where to go next and continue being told of how urgent it is the dragon be defeated." The first time I spoke with Parthurnaax my girlfriend and I wide-eyed each other every time he sounded like he was wrapping it up and then kept the slow-as-molasses monologue. Then the whole "blow away the fog four times so we can fight Alduin."

It's a cool concept but the execution just seemed forced to me. I honestly enjoyed doing everything else in the game and would often marked-for-death or un-armed punch people involved in the main plot because they bugged me. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it however, but my warrior is 32 and doesn't even know "ro-dah". She will not be defeating Alduin.

I three hit Alduin... that pretty much just sums it up lol.

Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
I really enjoyed the main quest. Alduin did seem...too easy. I'm not playing on Master, but I was expecting some challenge even on Adept. And the Blades are annoying. Mainly Delphine, she irked me so bad.

I think Elder Scrolls has more of a mission than to just make a game. They want to create a world you can live/play in that reflects whats going on in real time. Many games out there mmo and all but skyrim gives you sense of accomplishment that no mmo will give you :)

yeah, I finished the main quest line and was also kind of disappointed. especially since I've done all the other side quests and now just get to roam around the map. I'm pretty sure I have seen everything there is to see though

So, in other words, for someone who hasnt beaten him yet, I should do the main quest before continuing further with other stuff? That way, it wont seem too easy?

I played against Alduin on master difficulty and his fire could one-shot me if I didn't heal while burning. If you're having to easy of a time throw it up to expert or something.

My recommendation to anyone on their first play through is do not use smithing/enchanting because it makes you too overpowered to the point of not having fun. I like to do the Main Quest before the Civil War quests as well just because it makes the meeting part of the main quest easier.

Yeah, I came across those exploits before even seeing them online. I stopped using them as soon as I realized what was happening. I only use enchanting, but when I level that up, I only level it to about the same level that my magics are at. I do it every 10 levels or so.

The difficulty of the combat with Alduin didn't really bother me. I don't find the combat mechanics engaging anyway. I do wish they would have adder deeper conversation trees in the whole Sovngarde section. It seems like some of the historical personages could really have enhanced the story even more by talking a whole lot more about their history.

Since I didn't kill Paarthurnax, I did get to enjoy the wrap-up with him. I guess I would like the whole "world" to react a bit more to being saved from Alduin, but without anything really cheesy like "Dragonborn parades" or something. You'd think the Jarls might say something special or whatever.

Anyway, I wouldn't say I was disappointed by the end of the main quest. But I do think there were some opportunities missed for story enhancement.
