I have stopped playing for now, since they're promising all these bug fixes.... 6 days to go , will they come through?

THE WAIT, IT HURTS

I was going to do that. But I had already started my favorite questline, the Dark Brotherhood, and I think it was about two hours then I was on the game. About an hour into it I realized what I was doing.

Seems they released the PC fix on steam:

New version of the PC. Beta Update is up on Steam for folks that opt in. We should have more details for PS3 and 360 players soon http://t.co/m0wZEh4k

So this is the one that fixes the lag? Didn't they try 2 times before and didn't work? I hope it works now, because I adore this game but the lag is really putting me off. I didn't get much into the game as I keep in mind that if I play more and save more I will get the lag.

The month is nearly over and yet no patch. Come on Bethesda.

I read that Fallout 3 suffered from the same issue on the PS3 but I can't remember having any lag in Fallout 3. Maybe it was fixed in the GOTY edition (Which is the one I had)
I'd be seriously upset if they don't fix the problem with the next patch.

They are doing open beta testing using the PC player community. There are bugs in the patch itself that they have to address before an official release of the patch. Would you rather they released it without proper beta testing like they did with the game itself?

That peeved me quite a bit. I was anticipating the game as much as the next person, but I really felt cheated when a nifty release date was more important than releasing a solid game. Not that I'm complaining too heavily, as compared to some other players I've talked to, I have encountered very, very few crippling glitches, but overall the point still stands.

In my opinion, they could have waited until the 23rd of January. True, we would have had to wait a lot longer to get playing, but it would have afforded more time to iron out the kinks. Besides, the 23rd marked the Chinese New Year, and it's the year of the Dragon. They could have released a less glitchy game, and still got a memorable release date.

From a marketing and profitability perspective that would have been unacceptable to the CEO and Board of Directors of Bethesda. They may have been able to delay release for another month at best but anything beyond that would have put them well past the window for both the holiday shopping season and to qualify for GOTY. Being awarded GOTY allows them to use that to market the game even more for the rest of the year whereas a January release date would mean they couldn't use that accolade (assuming they would even get it) until its marketing value was significantly diminished.

That's why I wasn't so adamantly vocal about it. There's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to marketing a game, and not only do you have to project release sales but future sales as well. When it comes to future sales and overall bragging rights, they did what would benefit them best, and I can't gripe too much about that.

The patch has been released for PC users via steam & Bethesda told me ......... " As an update to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users, we’re submitting 1.4 to the console manufacturers this week. When these updates are available, we’ll let everyone know." .........

I didn't have any problems really with getting the unusual gem from the embassy. the first time I had to use a few well placed jumps to get back into the embassy, as I didn't want to fight them all, and got the gem.
What I'd really like to know is whether or not the fixed the stacking problem of the gems.
Also I wonder if they fixed the stacking problem with the soul gems. Just last night I had 10 petty soul gems each with a petty soul in them and they would not stack. annoying.

I think it's funny how they fixed a bunch of "rare" problems but not some of the blarring one.

Oh well, have to see what it is like later tonight.

once you get the unusual gems identified by Vex, the stop stacking. There are 24 stones. So you can imagine the mess it makes in the misc section

as much as I love skyrim, I'm def. hesitant to buy another bethesda game shortly after initial release.

Just look at all the issues 1.4patch is supposed to fix and that's after all the other patches. How can you justify releasing a game with so much issues?

that to me is unacceptable. Instead of just spending $60 for the game, I spent 400 to get a new console just to play this game on ps3.

Bethesda really disappointed me, but I'm still trying to soldier on as game is still addicting even with the crippling lag and what not.
