So I want to ask you guys a question, is it worth leveling up Enchanting? Because you have Dark Brotherhood for Assassin's, the Arch Mage Robes for mages, Nightingale for Nightingales, and sadly nothing for Warriors. So if you are not playing a warrior, should you still get Enchanting? Because you have enchanted items already, so would it be a waste?

Do you want to be on novice all the time, even when on master, or die incredibly frequently but still feel a sense of achievement after you kill a dragon. Basically enchanting makes you op but if you don't use it your up. Use in limitation for optimal playing difficulty.

Enchanted armor are most of the time much better than In game armor. Same for Weapons.

One of the reason is that the Extra Effect Perk allows you to have 2 enchantment per item. It is very rare to find 2 enchantments that SUITS YOUR CHARACTER on the same item with in game equipment.

Most enchantment are available and with high enchanting and alchemy skill, will be more potent than anything you can find in game. There are rare exception where enchantment cannot be disenchant, the most notorious one being the Sneak attack multiplier from Ancient Shrouded Gloves. All the assassins want that to be a disenchantable item.

In my point of view, Enchanting is NEVER a waste. Now enchanting combine with High Smithing and High Alchemy can make you EXTREMELY powerful. You will be able to one shot everything if you want to. So, you have to balance it yourself.

Enchanting is that powerful that I intend to make my next character an artificer: full enchanting, fUll alchemy and full smithing. No weapon, armor or magic school perks whatsoever. Just the used of high level enchanted items. The game make it that I will level the skills, but in term of damage output and results, my artificer would be not as good as a weapon Specialist, but not so far off.

I see, well I just think it would be really cool to disenchant the Ancient Dark Brotherhood Armor and put those enchants on Nightingale!

I never have used enchanting. It pisses me off because it tends to screw up the numbers. EX- A sword that does 31 points of frost damage. I'm really OCD about that.

Unless you're using a Fortify Enchanting potion, the damage will be 25 with 100 enchanting and 5 Enchanter perks and 30 if you also have the corresponding elemental damage Enchanter perk.

In general, Enchanting as a standalone is not overpowered. There is not a single enchantment you cannot find on an item in the game of equal strength once your level 46 or so and being able to place two enchantments on an item is not overpowered. For weapons it's going to add a maximum of 60 points of elemental damage (as opposed to 30 you can find in game) and for worn items it's not going to afford you any better enchantments than what you can find in the game, although it does add convenience by allowing you to wear the same gear to fully fortify 2 skills at the same time or cap magic resistance. In addition, the ingame highest elemental damage resistance enchantments are higher than anything you can legitimately achieve with a full crafting build.

The overpowered aspect begins when you combine it with Smithing by making a set of 100% Fortify Smithing gear or a set of 112% Fortify Smithing gear by also using an Enchanter's Elixir that can be purchased from any Apothecary. Combined with a Blacksmith's Elixir when tempering your weapons can result in hundreds of points of extra damage once your weapon skill damage bonus perks are applied to the base damage plus the Smithing damage bonus. However, you can control the degree of benefit you get easily by wearing less than 4 pieces of Fortify Smithing gear, and by using weaker Fortify Smithing potions or no potions at all. It's also important to note that it's entirely feasible to eventually get a set of 100% Fortify Smithing gear as loot and gear purchased from merchants so, to a degree, this is also achievable without any Enchanting skill or perks.

What Smithing and Enchanting gives you when used together is convenience and flexibility in terms of the aesthetics of your characters look while still having strong weapons and armor. For example you can make a classical looking Dovahkiin in studded/hide armor iron horn helmet and steel sword and still do respectable damage and have a high armor rating (enough to cap physical damage resistance if using an Alchemy build as well).
You can get up to 72 i think
That would be for Fortify Health/Magicka/Stamina. Elemental damage enchantments cap at around 37.
