Drelas' Cottage

So, I don't have money to buy a house, but these dragon bones & scales are killing my Carry Weight. I already killed Drelas (otherwise he would have killed my follower). If I were to store things in his house now would they disappear over time, or would it be safe to use it as storage until I have 5000 gold to get the "free" house in Whiterun?

[Skyrim is my first Elder Scrolls game, I'm not used to this at all, sorry if it's a stupid question.]

Most of the time you can store things anywhere, as long as it doesn't belong to someone else, and come back when ever you want. I have things stored in certain places and I haven't had any of it disappear.
