dragon souls & shouts

I've killed 2 dragons and absorbed their souls but its not powered my shouts!!
I have 4 shouts, force and whirlwind work but I've got 1 word of the ethereal shout and 3 words of throw voice which don't, now like I said I've smashed up 2 more dragons since gaining these new words but the menu just says I need dragon souls for them to work , does anyone have an insight on this ?

Have you unlocked them? You do this buy going into your Shout menu and 'buying' the words of power by using your available souls.

What platform are you using ?
For Xbox you unlock shouts by pressing X.
I don't know what the corresponding button is on the other platforms.

Ooooohh, I see
It's a bit like putting new gems in enchanted weaponry, I suppose its written on the screen in the shout menu isn't it lol
