I have an idea to add to that. How about the rebel leader is actually the real Night Mother, and the Night Mother everyone believes is the real one is being corrupted by a source of daedric power? Just a suggestion!

oh shaZZAM! or the rebel leader is SITHIS INCARNATE (or at least convincingly claims to be), choosing a new night mother because he is dissapointed with the quality of the old one (because she let if fall into such disarray!! like the most demented form of divorce

if we do the sithis incarnate thing, your last main quest could literally be to find and murder the new ngiht mother of sithis' choice to take the place of the old night mother (basically a really hard assassination quest, probably to go take down a very powerful necromancer or something(or perhaps more ironically a kind old woman who is generally very lucky))

Okay, for the Falkreath sanctuary, you should have Astrid confront you when you first enter and be all apologetic for trying to get you killed. Also, the other members should be proud of you for not giving up and going through with the contract, but their dialogue isn't forced. After they say their lines they should go back the regular dialogue that was seen in the main quest line. Plus I like the previous ideas for the quest lines (Destroying/Reviving the Tennets and the Rebellion Sanctuary). I can't wait c:

Diego The Assassin

Thalmor Slaughterer.
So I was playing through the DB storyline again on both Oblivion and Skyrim and have came up with several quest ideas and how we can make the mod work without you having to change the initial main quest. Now lets think here before we have a rebellion within the Brotherhood, The Night Mother is Sithis messenger. Maby you could make it like Sithis got mad at the Night Mother but that would mean she would have to do something to destroy the brotherhood, and she ends up reviving it by making Drangonborn the listener.

1) For starters let me give you some of my thoughts: DO NOT ALTER THE MAIN QUEST! The Dark Brotherhood is supposed to be destroyed! The only sanctuary in Tamriel is the Falkreath (It's the only working one). If you alter the main quest you will have to do a load of extra work, avoid that by not changing it, leave the Dawnstar Sanctuary left unoccupied and leave the Falkreath one alone (Maby make it bigger give everyone there assigned beds and chests.)

2) Wait until the main quest has been beaten until you make the mod actually take full effect. Make changes to the upgrades purchasable, leave the upgrades but change the areas maby make a new upgrade "Training room"-adds weapon racks, a book shelf loaded with training books, and make it so that the area has better lighting and so that the trainees actually train there (Maby also add a secret entrance to the Sanctuary in the town). Give the new people Nazir recruited names like "Samson The blooded" or "Matilda Sharp Shooter" and sense Nazir only recruits two new people add a new recruit, a Kahjit maby? The Kahjit could be a mage-merchant? Also add a recruiting type option like you can do for the Blades. Also maby wash and rewrite the Five Tenants that hang from the walls. (Also add some more light, it's to dark in the Sanctuary)

3) *QUEST* Once you have recruited three more people to the Dawnstar Sanctuary You will go and speak to Nazir, you will tell him that the Brotherhood is growing large and you may need to re-open the Falkreath Sanctuary. He will then reply that "It's madness If its re-opened it'll need a better pet than a Frostbite Spider!" You then tell him that you'll cover all expenses and that you'll find a good pet. Nazir will be hesitant but agree, he will prompt you to go to speak with Delvin Mallory where his dialog will basically stay the same you will then need to ask him to clear out all the rocks and destroyed items that were in the way or left behind from the siege (This will basically be an upgrade but a mandatory one, the first one you can purchase) after you have done that you can purchase other items for the Sanctuary such as:

Garden-300 gold, adds a small garden to the sanctuary

Forge-500 gold, adds a forge where the giant fire pit use to be, also adds a work bench a leather rack

New Banners-150 gold, adds new banners

Master Bedroom-1500 gold, makes the room that used to be Astrid's into a nice room, also makes the area outside of the room nicer (adds another table some shelf's and ect.)

Mage room-1000 gold, The area where Babett, Festus, and Gabriella stayed at will basically be re0built, only nicer and more cleaned up.

Spider room-150 gold, The spot where Lis the spider stayed will be re-built and two new spiders will stay in there.

Kitchen-500 gold, The old Kitchen area will be re-created only much nicer as everything else is.

Living quarters-1500 gold, adds several bed, locked chests and some wardrobes also adds a wolf named Arnbjorn in memory of Astrid's husband.

Thats all I can think of for upgrades but I'm sure you'll think of even more! Don't forget to add some new members to the Sanctuary, also let people be recruited by Dragonborn unil there are eight members (not counting the three pets). When you return to Nazir you will notice the sanctuary also got a pet, two actually. A skeever and fox. After the Two sanctuary's have been re-built A new quest will be started wich will allow you to start officially re-building the Brotherhood. You will need to find and re-build the Whiterun Sanctuary! I will post details on that later.
I'm sorry if any of this is unclear. It's currently about to turn three AM where I am and I am tired.

Hello there, is this topic still going?
As a fan of the story of the Elder Scrolls i would like to help with the more overall story.
I know a lot about Sithis, Anuiel, the daedric lords and the elder scrolls themselves.
I would like to help by giving quest ideas and writing books for the mod, books that would add onto the story and explain certain things, as i have played the past Elder Scrolls games the names of writers and sources mentioned will be from the games themselves.
The thing i hate in mods is poor atmosphere, i think the sanctuaries should be big but cozy.

Things written in yellow are to help you comprehend the idea, they are just examples and quest ideas as well as other ideas.

Also, Diego's post mentions altering of the main quest and how the FR's sactuary is the last.
Well, i have a theory how we can explain that, if this project is still going, i will write a whole book which will give you even more ideas for quests.
By "book" i mean about 5 pages of a book in-game for the players to read, and understand why we heard nothing of the sanctuaries inserted in this mod during the campaign.

I think the Sithis incarnate thing is not such a good idea as Sithis is not actually a person, Sithis is the void where people murdered by the Dark Brotherhood go after death, it is the place that contains all worlds of oblivion and the mundus.
Ill try to explain it off my lore-knowledge:
There was once SITHIS, playing with his toys in a sandbox.
Then, a few jealous kids (the 8 divines (i said 8 because Talos wasn't promoted just yet :D )) said "Why is this sandbox all his!? Lets make a castle in it", and so they created the worlds of Oblivion.
Then Sithis said "Fools! This is my sandbox! My demon Lorkhan will get rid of you!" and so sithis created Lorkhan. (Yes, without the sandbox metaphor, this is ALL lore-based).
But Lorkhan, like any stupid kid, decided to make others do his job and made the Mundus (the mortal world) to get rid of the Oblivion worlds.
Later, it turned out that instead of destroying the Oblivion realms, the people of Mundus started to co-exist with everything that was formed by the kids within the sandbox, so they took the Aedra as the 8 gods (later 9).
Because it all was so enormous and powerful it went out of control, Sithis had small influence so he decided to contact mortals and formed the Dark Brotherhood.

Instead of the Sithis Incarnate i suggest making a second night mother, and then during a campaign you choose either you wish to serve the new one appointed by Sithis, or help the current one prove her loyalty to Sithis once again by destroying her potential succesor and gaining back her position.

I understand this might be a bit complicated, but if you confirm i can help you with the books, i will make everything simple to understand and in the common language of the people of skyrim, i will also use dates and historical people to make it more believable.

Please contact me on steam :).
Im - [Honeybadger] Wedox

Its better if you do not put Sithis into this personaly, leave the air of mystery around him to be used at the end.

P.S. Before i kill one of the 3 captives within the abandoned shack, i like to save and kill Astrid, to hear "Well done..." when i kill her :). After all she sais "Your not leaving this shack until someone dies!" and i like to pick HER as the someone :D.

***

As when it comes to the upgrades of the thing, i suggest making an opportunity cost, meaning that if you buy something, you cannot buy something else.
Example: If you buy the Mage room, you cannot buy the Alchemy room.
It will allow you to specialise sanctuaries i.e. Whiterun = Magic Specialised, Solitude = Stealth specialised, so in Whiterun you will have more mage murderers and in Solitude more thiefs and stereotypical assassins.
Aldo every sanctuary will have a bit of everything, i suggest specialising them in something.
So the sanctuaries may co-exist.
Example:
Agor-Ai, the master of the Shadowscales from the Skyrim branch of the organisation decided to identify the strange magic dagger he found in the ruins of Brassildor, so you are given a quest to go to the mage Sanctuary and ask the lore-master, Nargos Krex (The brother of Festus Krex, killed at the falkreath sanctuary) to identify it.
Special sanctuaries may have special features.
Example:
The Whiterun sanctuary has a portal to the mythical 'Library of Ages', where the doomsday books* are contained.
A doomsday book is a book that contains all your life written in it, in the Library we may have doomsday books of all assassins that served sithis, all their victims and their techniques, also the covenant they signed with sithis at their first murder.
Another quest idea! An old nord assassin wants you to steal his Doomsday book from the Library of Ages because he doesn't wish to go to the void, instead, he wants to spend his eternity in Sovngarde, so you are told to find his book and burn it in a holy fire that you can find in... the tomb of Adamus Philida, people who played oblivion will know that Philida was the Commander of Imperial forces that fought against the Dark Brotherhood, he was killed in the day of his retirement by the player during the campaign in oblivion.
I understand Adamus Philida was from Cyrodill, but we can say he had nordic roots and he wanted a nordic burial in the fatherland, so his relatives brought him here.
That means you will have to create an area called as his tomb :)

You see, im sweating out ideas here but i still didnt get the answer is the project still going :p

I have noticed that the Dark Brotherhood armours emphasise (prob spelled wrong :D) stealth gameplay, i suggest making armour that will help spellcasters.
Example:
Armour of the Planeswalker:
- Gloves: Fortify Illusion 15%, Fortify Magicka Regen 30%
- Robe (hooded): Fortify Conjuration and Destruction 20%, Fortify magicka 50.
- Boots: Fortify Stamina 50,Fortify Resistance to Shock/Fire/Frost 15%.

The robe will look like the necromancer robes except the fact instead of the skull it will have the logo of the Black Hand.

TBH, i dont even have skyrim myself, i dont play on my own PC.
Soon, ill just buy skyrim off steam and then ill try to find my way around the workshop and maybe ill be able to assist you.

I just bought Skyrim :)

Voice acting is a HUGE one, a mod without voice is crap, ever played Mannimarco Resurrection in Oblivion? It lacked the spirit because it didnt have sound.
Im a part of the Rawcritics community, i will try to encourage them to record them saying certain stuff to assist in the mod.

Another point is co-existing with other campaigns and their progress.
Example: If you became the Arch-Mage of the college of winterhold, you will have to do different quests to obtain information from the lore-master, you will also be treated with more respect by the mage-assassins.

You both should go write for Bethesda or at least be given a job for just giving ideas.. you have amzing ideas here. I'm on 360 so if this is ever made i wont be able to play it, though i'll run out and buy a copy for my computer if and when this is done..

keep me in the loop..

Sure, contact either me or Diego in private, if you wish to help get yourself Skyrim on steam.

You may think "No, sorry, programming isnt my piece of cake".
But let me tell you something, its so easy its hillarious.

I have installed the Creation Kit from steam yesterday, i already made a simple 'kill and retrieve' quest and im in the middle of making the Morthal sanctuary.

We actually have way more ideas, they are all connected within our private conversation.
Because it seems the owner of this thread will never respond, i suggest joining the conversation.

is steam located some place here or on another site? i would love to try and come up with some sick ideas for the game? Also this program, does it allow one to change up the look of armor at all?

(keep in mind I'm honestly very new to the whole "forum" deal.. (lol) this is the only one I've ever joined.. and as you can tell i'm a newbe)

Well, get yourself steam from here Welcome to Steam
Most of all, the creation kit cannot make new models and cannot change meshes themselves.
You need programs like blender and photoshop to be able to do that, the creation kit simply changes the properties, where stuff is placed, quests, spells and using it, you can build your own areas.
If you wish to help, read the wiki bethesda tutorials on how to make quests and build areas, then you will be able to put your ideas into deeds.

Dragon Slayer
I haven't had a lot of time to read all these posts, but seems like a suggestion thread....i have 1 idea in a way. I know a few live friends have talked about this but what about a Elder Scrolls games in a multi-player game. A 2 player game (same console or system-link) and 2-4 online. Kinda like a Borderlands game play but in Elder Scroll form. A few things would have to change. and a few mods would have to be done. Waiting time/fast travel wouldn't change as people would be in party chat (should be). But items would have to be leveled. Followers wouldn't be allowed if playing multi-player. Now you may ask...well then the creatures would be sooooo easy. Then make it the more players the harder the creatures.

Example-
1 player: Ancient Dragon lvl 50
2 players: Ancient Dragon lvl 60
3 players: Ancient Dragon lvl 75
4 players: Ancient Dragon lvl 100
Loots would have to be a little bigger.

Also, as well as Bethesda has made Elder Scrolls I don't think lag would be a big problem. The quest will be the same as well as leveling, level up as normally like 1st player. If lost planet, halo, borderlands, etc. games can do this I am 100% positive Bethesda can do it as well. I would also think if they did this and made it work well without losing all the important stuff and all. Then a good amount of people would play. Doing a MMO would be too much but a 1-2 player game like this would be awesome IMO. Well I cant think of much more to add about the idea. But the 43 friend on live that play(ed) any elder scroll games would love it like this. Any added comments? :) Thanks

P.S. I haven't seen this idea anywhere else to if already out there my bad.

Oh thats nice! Me and diego have decided to follow up on the idea.
I have already finished the Morthal sanctuary and inserted it into Morthal.

We already have a plan how to handle the quests and how to explain everything so it's all lore based.

I do not have much time right now but im sure Diego will post here soon.

Our plan is:
"We can start off Beta mode with the Dragonborn going around reviving the Sanctuary's and recruiting members. Then we can release the main things were you find a journal and it leads you to go deep into cave filled with a spell I'm working on "The Wrath of Sithis" (you know, Oblivion reference.) when you get to the end you'll find the bones of an old explorer who was killed by the boss of the cave, beat the boss loot the explorer find his journal with detailed descriptions of keys, h will also have the first key."

Let me explain:
After we finish the main campaign, as diego mentioned we are going to rebuild all sanctuaries.
Then, we will obtain a key, and as we will grow to know from Urag in the Arcaenum, the key is a part of a legendary door hidden at the end of the library of souls.
The door will need 5 keys (each key will have quests to it), behind that door there will be another door that requires 2 orbs, that you will find in the tombs of Adamus Philida and Lucien LaChance (Oblivion reference).
Then the final door will need the blade of woe.

When you open the third door you will find a black orb, that orb will be like a way to contact with sithis.
Sithis will offer you a deal:
* This is my offer for the final quest, or maybe a trial to gain Sithis' trust to be allowed to do the final quest *
Sithis sends you to Sovngarde, telling you to obtain the soul of a person that escaped the void.
Your objective will be to kill the victim in Sovngarde with a special weapon you gain from sithis (He will ask you in a conversation what weapon do you prefer "In the void all is shapeless, child. Yet what tool would you desire to obtain?")

I may have skipped something but that was Diego's and my main idea for the questline.
My posts are long and you didnt bother reading them, but here are a few things you should know:
- Library of Souls is the place where all assassins and all people killed by the dark brotherhood store their Doomsday Books.
- Doomsday book is a book that contains all your sins and achievments.

I MAY have put this a little bit clear, but finding each of the 5 keys, both orbs and the blade of woe will actually take long quests.

I said this before :D, I want to do the quest for the 4th key associated with the Morthal sanctuary.
Also: Voice Acting, I am a part of a very nice community that im sure will lend their voices to our little project.

Yeah a note: Dont stick to sithis, also use Anuiel and the divines, but we can even go outside of the box, and use Innos Adaons or even Beliar (Every played gothic 1,2 and 3?)

Diego The Assassin

Thalmor Slaughterer.
Yup this our plan, also Wedox I was thinking and because Sithis is the Void lets not give him a voice. Lets have him journals, books, or notes as his way of contacting the Listener. For the Mod though, we are going to release it in four phases.

Phase 1: Beta

The First part of the Mod will be released, you go and revive Sanctuary's after you have revived the Dawnstar Sanctuary. You talk to someone and then go and start to revive each of the Sanctuary's in Skyrim.

Phase 2:Bugs

We fix most of the bugs associated with Phase 1.

Phase 3: Main Quest

We (Hopefully) complete all of the Bugs in Phase 1 and start the Release the Main Quest.

Phase 4:Bugs

We will wipe out all the bugs we can and celebrate!

Hmm, maybe not.
How about we give sithis a Herald, a person given immortality to exert Sithis' will, the only person that knows what Sithis wants.
So we dont put sithis himself into this, but we have a person who speaks directly for him.
Wait.. is Sithis a HE :D? I like to imagine him as a high elf with pitch-black/blue skin, black eyes, a black suit, a fedora and a nice pointy beard.
But thats ofc my image of him when i imagine him as my master in one of the stories in my head and i should probably stop speaking now.

So what do you think? Sithis' Herald of Doom instead of Sithis itself?
The Herald would be unknown to the night mother, so she will despite him and try to undermine his effords using YOU.

EDIT: Yes, as many fans of different things i enjoy to imagine myself as an additional character within a story, or even make my own story, i do this and tbh, it gives me a lot of ideas that i gave you over the last week/s.

Diego The Assassin

Thalmor Slaughterer.
Haha no no go on! Seriously though I imagine Sithis as what he really is, the void in the render box, the darkness of night, the leader of Death, The lord of Population control. The idea of Sithis Herald is well... amazing!

Wedox

Ill expand my little thought on the Heralds, thats the lore side of it.

There are 3 heralds of doom.
The herald of Honour, the herald of Agony and the herald of Balance.
The Honour is the herald of Anuiel (the opposite of Sithis), a tall woman in some form of a white robe will be how she looks like if we put her ingame.
The Agony is the herald of Sithis, a man with pitch-blue eyes, a beard and really dark hair.
These heralds are under the jurisdiction of (they are under the authority of) their masters and they carry out their will.
But what both sides do not realise is that if one of them wins, chaos will erupt.
Thats where the herald of balance comes in, he takes neither sides but makes sure that none of the sides win.

For lore purpouses, the heralds are not hostile towards eachother, they also do not take direct action, we can explain them as demons whispering thoughts into the heads of humans to lead them towards their own destruction! (Oh my, I feel poetic today)

P.S. Guess who the herald of balance is within my head :D

EDIT: When you said "Lord of Population control" i thought of something weird...

EDIT2: I suggest we put in another mod into this project, the main quest delayer.
It will seem more right, you are being betrayed by the members of the black hand and you run into an imperial ambush.

By saying "This is the lore side of it" i ment this is the version in my head, there is no story of actual heralds within the saga of Elder Scrolls.
