Best Race?

I'm getting Skyrim for Christmas , It will be my first Elder Scrolls game. I'm wondering what race I should choose. I think i would like Archery and swords. Any suggestions?

Orc, in my opinion. If anything, because their racial power allows you to deal double damage and take half damage for a minute with melee weapons. If you wish to be a Mage, I'd reccomend being a Breton, and of you plan on being a stealth based character, either Khajiit or a Wood Elf (I prefer Khajiit though).

There is no best race tbh in this version mate, you get a slight starter bonus to certain skills with some races, and some of the Racials are better ie Orc's but i'd go with what you like the look of tbh have a quick read of

I went for Dunmer (Dark Elf) simply because I like the multi talents, and the resistance to fire...
