Anyone got advice for making a journal? I love the idea, and I'm going to use it for my next character (Dark Elf named Thenmyr, Priest of Meridia / Part time Thief) but I want to know how to limit myself without going super hardcore dead is dead you lose mode. Any advice?

Also, can anyone help me brainstorm restrictions? I'll update them with the magic powers of edit as I come up with them.

Base Restrictions
- Difficulty at Adept until level ten, must set it to Expert from then on.
- Must disable autosaving.
- Can only save in cities / villages and at Meridia's shrine.
- Must sleep six hours a day. If caught out in the wild without a bed, exceptions can be made.
- Must eat one food item + one drink item before and after sleeping.
- Fast travel is sinful and wrong.
- Dead is not dead, but upon death, must sleep (not wait) for 24 hours and drop all gold.
- No potions during combat.
- No shouts.
- No man/mer/beast followers, only dogs. Not valid when a quest requires a man/mer/beast follower.

Need more.

Weapons / Armor Restrictions
- Can only carry worn armor + one spare piece + shield.
- Can only carry one melee weapon + one ranged weapon.
- Can only carry thirty arrows / forty bolts.
- Cannot carry arrows / bolts without a bow / crossbow
- Cannot use two handed weapons.
- Must constantly wear an amulet of Stendarr.
- Gauntlets/Boots are heavy armor.
- Chestpiece is clothes, preferably robes.
- Headgear is light armor / hood + circlet.

Roleplay Restrictions
- Is not the Dragonborn.
- Must kill any Thalmor encountered.
- Cannot wear Stormcloak uniform in Solitude until
- Must travel with a canine companion.

Quest Restrictions
- Can complete main quests up to Mirmulnir boss battle. Cannot progress from there.
- No "bad" questlines (TG, DB)
- No magic quests/questlines (College of Winterhold)

Need more.

Probably going to only use console commands once or twice at the beginning, to start with an amulet of Stendarr (they're surprisingly rare)

Some "fun" restrictions in my opinion, decrease all loot with 50%(Personally doing 90%, but that's because I find it fun to work hard for simple stuff like a steel mace), pay your follower 5 gold per hour, only way to activate a perk is to let a trainer "teach" you the perk. You must do them a favor the first time, and they must be the trainer of the skill you want a perk for. Alternativly, you could just pay them 1,5k or something.

These are just some ideas, I might add more for you later :)

Can't drink potions.

Can't fast travel.

Can't use shouts.

Can't use weapons.

Can't use magic.

Can't take anything you find.

That should make an interesting journal.

Some other stuff:
Flip a coin to determine if you fit clothing/armor etc.

Be an alcoholic

Think of upgrades, like extra backpack, which will require stuff and time.

No crafting

I'm gonna go with crafting, but I like the idea of looted armor having a chance of not fitting. Probably going to restrict myself to bought and smithed armors only.

Bought/smithed armor would always fit, of course.

I can't picture a devout follower of Meridia being any kind of thief.

Meh. I want to make a bad character.
Maybe I'll drop the thievery. Or maybe the Meridia part of the Priesthood, and become a priest of someone else.

Yeah Meridia is one of the few Daedra that are not considered evil so if you want a bad character I would go with someone else. Azura is also not considered evil.

Maybe I'll drop the evil thing. Priesthood <3
