Right, good; I was getting a little worried. Basically, we're being sent out to Haestrom because the quarian scientists have figured out why Dholen is destabilizing. Remember Tali's dossier mission in ME2, when being in sunlight caused your shields/barriers to go down? That planet. I'm not going to give away any info on the plot beyond that; that's all your characters will have been told by the Council.

Yes it was something about how Dark energy was causing the Destabilizing.
Although there isn't much about what's causing the Dark energy. I've read a lot of fan guided answers to it.

Why change the past when you can own this day?
Well, I'm on the verge of throwing up tonight. I'll try to post my CC, but if not it will be in the day. Sorry again. It will be great though!

Why change the past when you can own this day?
(If there is something that needs to be changed, let me know.)
    Name: James Teller
    Alias:Vex
    Age:30
Birthplace: A small town in Oregon
    Gender:Male
    Laterality:Right handed
    Sexuality:Heterosexual
Martial status:Single. Love is a dangerous game

    APPEARANCE:
    Eyes:Brown
    Hair: Brown and short
Scars:Right side of his face extending from his right eye to the right side of his mouth, a few on his back from and more on his chest thanks to years on the field. Other scars you can't always see

    PERSONALITY:
The good: Smart, caring once you know him, acts like a father figure/mentor, quite wise, calm, practical, respects his men, the alliance, and would kill and die for both, respects the chain of command, most times. Any alien he fights with is blood to him. No matter what race, creed, sex, or species. A soldier is a soldier, regardless.

The bad: Doesn't do politics, stubborn in his ways and war can change a man. Strong opinions in music, reading and military endeavor.

Likes: Reading, sparring, weapon handling, a good drink, The Alliance, keeping his subordinates in check,Aliens, gazing into the void of space.

Dislikes: Arrogance, any strong discrimination towards a person and Alien alike. The only scum in the galaxy are the ones he fights, and the ones in prison. He despises generals who sit up in a high chair, orders around their subordinates like chess pieces, takes all the glory and deals all the blame for a failure. He would die for his men and women, and he takes full responsibility for a failure, and celebrates a victory as a whole.

Combat skills/gear: A standard issue M8 Avenger with some scratches to indicate wear. Simple can be oh so beautiful. Along with that he has an old military issued knife back from earth that passed down in his family from a time long ago. Made with carbon steel and worshiped by him. The knife as a whole has been used in every major war since Earth's World War II. For his training he went through marksmanship training, scoring highly in it, advanced CQC, various weapon handling courses, and in his free time likes more, traditional weapons.

He also carries a predator pistol, liking getting multiple shots off in quick succession

As for armor he has is Alliance issue combat fatigues that he prefers due to movement and weight. (Think Anderson's fatigues in ME3 but black) He also wears an Alliance Helmet that has blue eye sockets with Vex written on the side along with scratches. The helmet goes on when needed

He also wears a bandanna around his head during battle to keep his hair and sweat out of his eyes, the same bandanna around his neck when it's cold, or the climate is dusty or can harm or slightly hinder breathing.

    HISTORY:

James had a normal childhood with a normal upbringing; Right when he was born his father left, and it was just his mother and him. He was born in Oregon when his mother was in between tours as an Alliance fighter pilot. The thought and grandeur of service was instilled in him since birth, thanks to hearing of his mothers heroic actions and tales of close calls and battles. Being a military kid, he lived aboard star ships most his life, moving every often, having a new set of friends as well. He got used to not having friends, so he studied and delved into history and literature. As he grew up, he went more and more into military history, weaponry, and tactics, all while passing school. He enlisted when he was 20, going to small skirmishes with the ground force

After years of war and service, he commanded the very group of men and women he fought beside. This time he gets to make the hard choices, to live with his men and women dying, their fate in his choice of action. The history books didn't prepare him for this.

Suceeded: He and his company were ordered out to deal with a siege in an alliance research base by Cerberus. Vex came in, split his company into smaller teams; One team that made it apparent that they were gaining entry at the front, then a stealth team that quietly made their way around to flank the enemy. Both teams slowly made their way deeper, flanking Cerberus on both sides and took advantage of the blind spot, and overtook the base, sparing the hostages while wiping out the enemy. He later found out that the base had plans for a type of an air defense plan, and if left in the wrong hands, could have led to the citadel open for attack

Solved: Operation "Trench digger" During their bigger assignments, they were ordered to help defend a turian stronghold against reaper soldiers, during a stand still in fighting, he had his men dig a trench, with the help of some turian soldiers around the stronghold, deep enough to hinder something from climbing over it, and set a small group of soldiers by the key access points, and some along the walls of the stronghold overlooking the trenches. Soon the reapers came, and fell into the remarkably deep trenches. Like fire works the fine men and women around him let the bastards up with whatever they were holding; rifles, pistols, explosives. It was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Failure: Operation "red rain": He found their way to a lush forest planet with a constant wet climate, like Vietnam in monsoon season. Due to the lush vegetation, the planet's sun was blocked out, creating an evil shadow over the field. Now it was dark and rainy. It was devilishly quiet, only their footsteps echoing around them. He's seen unsettling things and been in horrific battles, but this was nightmarish. Where was the enemy? He had no idea. How could he assure his men that they were going to make it? Then he heard it; a trigger of a mine. Then it happened, a full out ambush "Ambush!" There was no darkness now, only flashes of blue, splashes of red, and cries of pain, fear, and anger. Somehow they set an ambush. They had no time to form an offensive, so he pulled them back. He lost half of his platoon. After all, they responded to a distress beacon detailing light resistance, nothing like what happened.

What happened on that day still haunts him. He has all those names etched into his mind. How could he have stopped it? James struggles with it to this day.

Accepted! And is Vex a weapons specialist, right? Am I to put that under weapons master, or is he something completely different?

Alright, added you to the list! Not going to lie, I'm looking forward to seeing some alien CCs. My second CC, which isn't up yet, is a turian, but other than that, we've got nothing yet other than humans.

He already is :p In some ways, it's more impressive to be less interesting than Jacob; because that's a hell of an achievement.

    EYE COLOUR:N/A
    HAIR: N/A
SCARS: A long white slash across the left side of his "head".
BUILD: long thick tentacles and a large body that is surprisingly firm. Feels like pushing a solid block of jelly.

    ATTIRE - CASUAL: None
    ATTIRE - ARMOUR:

    imgres

This is a special hardsuit worn by Nessus when he must leave a ship in a hostile environment. Nessus' body is fully sealed and the metal claws on his tentacles serve to focus his biotics and strengthen his grip. They can also be used as deadly melee weapons when necessary, though this puts Nessus at great risk because he is such a large target. The suit also has black ballistic fiber "tentacle sleeves" that protect his exposed tentacles from harm and exposure.

    PERSONALITY

POSITIVE TRAITS: Kind, friendly, always wishes to learn, very polite like all hanar, extriemely intelligent, can perform certain tasks better than any bipedal organic such as swimming or typing. Having what is essentially eight hands helps.
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Nosy, socially awkward, has difficulty getting to the point due to meandering speech, tends to overwork himself, hasn't experienced serious failures or setbacks yet.
LIKES: Water, bathing, swimming, mindfish, cooking, learning new cultures, shooting guns, meeting new people, watching the reactions on people's faces when they see a hanar fire a gun, Blasto movies.
DISLIKES: Dry climates, ignorance, people he percieves as slow or dull witted, rude behaviour, racism, anyone who speaks ill of the Protheans, Blasto himself.
FEARS: Failure, disappointing his people, dishonoring the Enkindlers, dying on dry land, deserts.
QUIRKS: Likes to talk, and can make conversation out of almost anything, as long as the other person is willing to talk back. His body colour also shifts with his mood, from blue when sad to pink when happy, to red when angry to purple when aroused.
    COMBAT
    CLASS: Adept
WEAPONS: Two predator pistols, two carnifex heavy pistols and four tempest submachine guns.
FIGHTING STYLE: Nessus prefers to let his ship to the fighting for him and does it very well but is fully prepared to fight himself. He takes full advantage of his species' strong grip and multiple limbs by laying down a wall of lead from behind cover. Each of his tentacles has been cybernetically augmented to be as strong as a human arm and he can effectively use four out of eight tentacles as hands. He can effectively wield two rifle sized weapons at once using two tentacles each. He can wield up to four pistols or SMG's at once but doing so greatly reduces his accuracy. He only does so at close range or when ammunition is not a concern. He can also tear apart enemies with his claws or strangle them with his tentacles but doing so puts him at risk if there are multiple enemies around. He relies heavily on shields and mass effect fields and is vulnerable when immobilized.

    BIOGRAPHY

Nessus was born on Khaje one year after the Reaper War. Times were difficult after the war but Nessus was oblivious to most of it. He was born in a clutch of over 100 hanar and grew up in an underwater city beneith Khaje's vast oceans. His father was an ambassador to the drell and often when to a small coastal city on a nearby isanld to see them. He took Nessus along so he could learn from and be exposed to the humanoid race that did so much for the hanar and learn Nessus did. The drell taught him of the stars and of space travel, something many hanar aren't interested in, and of the constellations in the night sky. When Nessus first stared up at the night sky, the black void of space, he was convinced that he was looking into another world. A world nothing like the ocean he was born in but just as wonderful, just as fulll of life and surprise and filled with opportunity for an adventurous little jellyfish like himself. He wanted nothing more than to explore this new world and see everything it had to offer.

All hanar learn of the Protheans, the Enkindlers, in school and their stories of how they ruled the galaxy only emboldened Nessus on his quest to travel the stars. He seemed willing to don anything to realize his dream. When he learned about th Mass Relays and the Citadel in school he read everything he could about them. When he was old enough to understand that the universe was made up of stars and planets he studied every star chart and astronomy book he could find. When he realized that mathmatics was the universal language of the universe he threw himself into equations and formulas. He recieved excellent marks in school and used role models such as Thane Krios, Blasto and of course Commander Shepard to do his very best for his people an more importantly himself. In what could be considered hanar university he studied math, space geography and mass effect theory. It seemed he would become a ship's navigator or pilot until one day that changed his life.

While writing his bood with Liara Javik spent several years on Khaje getting to know the people that worshipped him. He made sevearl lasting changes to the hanar defense and millitary forces, mostly ways for the hanar to fight for and defend themselves without relying completely on their drell partners. The hanar saw this as a divine mandate and the followed it without question. Many gifted hanar, including Nessus, were selected to participate in a cybernetics and gene therapy program to make hanar into capable soldiers. Javik oversaw this personally and for the most part it succeeded. Nessus was turned into a strong and dangerous warrior that could fight as well as any drell or "ambulatory" race and showed exceptional navigation and problem solving skills. While he was honored by this he stilll felt travelling the stars was his destiny and he was worried that he was being pulled away from the path.

One day he was able to meet Javik and adress his concerns. The ancient prothean was initially annoyed with what he saw as a whining hanar initiate but when he read Nessus he understood. He had great potential as a pilot, much more than as a navigator or soldier, that he had yet to realize. This was enough for Javik to recoomend Nessus for a trial in a flight simulator with both drell and hanar students and he outdid all of them. He flew the simulator as if he were born for it. Dodging asteroids that crushed the other students' imaginary ships, evading imaginary enemy fighters minutes longer than anyone else. His simulation ended with incorrectly approaching a mass relay and flying into a sun but it proved beyond any doubt that Nessus was a pilot.

Nessus graduated first in his class and has been certified to fly anything from shuttles to drednoughts, though he has a special aptitude for frigates. Now he's been called to the Citadel for a mission of galactic importance: Flying the Normandy SR-2 class frigate SSV London for none other than the daugter of Commander Shepard and Garrus Vakarian. Nessus is so excited he's ready to excrete liquid waste from his membrane without removing clothing first.

Psft it's not that hard, but what I won't disappoint! Jacob was really flat to me lol. Vex has more character and more turmoil in a lot of ways.
