Deathbrand Armor is supposed to be the best armor in all of Tamriel. It even says so on Wiki so it must be true. However, I find a deadly "hole" in that armor in that it doesn't shield fire or frost. So you can get taken down fast by any dragon or mage. I don't want to use rings or neckaces to make up for that because they're for other things. Has anyone found a solution to this? Or is this a fatal flaw?
The only thing I can think of is to take advantage of the Lord stone and the Mara quest. That will give you 40% magic resistance, right off the bat. Then, if your character has an inborn resistance, you'll be pretty well off, if not over the cap on that one, leaving you with potions or equipment for the rest. I know your ring/necklace combo is for other things, but you might be able to get around that. I have, even in my current play, always ended up with at least 3 necklaces and 2 rings on me at any given time, more before I can dual enchant. If I end up facing down a storm mage, I open the menu and pop on my shock resist equipment and keep going. It's a pain sometimes, but it works.
I tend not to wear the Deathbrand armor. As Kitty mentioned, personally crafted/enchanted armor seems to better suit the individual play style, but at early levels, that 100 point bonus is hard to beat, not to mention carry weight, one-hand damage, and water breathing.
