Dad told me the news about an hour or so ago. My heart kinda stopped because I grew up with him as a child. (As did most if not all of us)
Apparently he died (at least this is what is assumed to be) of asphyxiation. Dad and I talked about it and yes, he did suffer from major/manic depression, tried to get off the alcohol time and again. He was a happy go lucky guy and couldn't 'turn himself off' and calm down. Always being happy and joking even in serious situations or topics. He was the celebrity goof-ball of Hollywood, even going to other actors and famous peoples houses to cheer them up. One of which was Sharon Osbourne when she had cancer and was undergoing treatment. Always thought laughter was the best medicine and shared it with everyone. Unfortunately, I don't think he had his own 'goof-ball' to cheer him up. People tried to support him but sadly it wasn't enough. Apparently he also may have had financial problems being married 3 times, divorce having a huge impact on financial issues.
When I was told about it I went downstairs and I couldn't believe the headlines on the news. Plastered pretty much everywhere, every channel. It's like the time Steve Irwin passed away. Reportedly his last words were, "I'm dying." And that was the end of it. I cried of course, I was little and Steve Irwin was one of my childhood heroes. Having Robin passing away feels like my childhood got torn asunder. Who's next? Betty White? Clint Eastwood? Many others you wouldn't expect to keel over? Although some people probably were waiting for Robin's clock to wear out. They just didn't know when. So young, too fast. I hope he finds peace as well as his wife and family. Poor Mrs. Williams is devastated.
Fare thee well, The Robster, Mrs. Doubtfire, Mork, Elder Peter Pan, Genie, Creator of Flubber, "Theodore Roosevelt".
