The Japanese gamer citizenry will get their hands on Xenoblade Chronicles X tomorrow, April 29. As I write this, in fact, it should be April 29 over there already. And on the heels of that release, Nintendo has revealed their DLC plans for the game, which as as massive as the environments themselves.

There are a total of seven -- count 'em -- seven DLC packs for XCX in the works, the first wave of which will be available May 8. To be fair, some of them are similar enough that they were likely developed at the same time. Four are bundles that consist of one new character, three quests to complete, two combat Arts and a blueprint for either a weapon or a mech.

The other three are referred to as "support DLC" and add more cash, resources and experience to the game respectively.

The four character packs are 500 yen each, or about $4 in US dollars. The three support packs are 300 yen ($2.50). If all seven are bought at once, a discount is applied that brings the whole package down to $17.

There's no indication any of this DLC will be offered with the English version of the game, but there's no reason to assume it won't. If the game is as extensive with content as the original Xenoblade was, you may not need the extra material anyway.
