Will TESO have a main questline?

Will it have a main quest or will it be just prance all over tamriel doing side quests with your friends?

it has a main quest where Molag bal is the Bad Guy and you have to get your souls back from him which would be awkward if you chose to become a vampire

There are actually two 'main quest's. The first more closely resembles standard Elder Scrolls storylines, which also happens to be the main line for the 'Fighter's Guild'. Essentially, Molag Bal is trying to fuse your world with that of Cold Harbor, and has taken your soul in the process. The second is the conquering of Cyrodil and crowning the Emperor. Thus why there are three Alliances you can join to fight; be advised this is a MASS PvP story, with heroic battles happening as the player go for the victories.

As with all ES games, you can ignore either for the most part, instead performing side quests and missions.
