For all the recent doom and gloom talk about the future of Japan's game industry, it's nice to know traditional console games remain in their public conciousness strongly enough to merit selling yellow cars with the Chocobo theme.
Kotaku called attention to this Japanese car ad this morning, which uses the recognizable country-styled tune that has appeared in almost every title of the Final Fantasy series. The car in question is the Aqua, which is the Japanese name for the Prius C in the United States.
This is actually NOT the first time a car company has used RPG music in its advertising; previously, Toyota used Dragon Quest music to sell automobiles in its Prius line. Now they seem to have switched from one property to another, just like Old Navy swapped out Amy Poehler for Julia Louis-Dreyfus (anybody know why?)
Aside from the recognizable theme, there are no other Final Fantasy references in the ad. WARK!
