Spotted on Wired:
Bethesda will bring its Elder Scrolls role-playing game franchise into the massively multiplayer genre next year with Elder Scrolls Online, according to a story to be published in the June issue of Game Informer magazine.
The magazine reports that the game will span “across the entire land of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Skyrim and everywhere in between,” featuring solo play, cooperative dungeons and player-versus-player fighting.
Game Informer will add more information about the game to its Elder Scrolls Online hub throughout this month, and post a teaser trailer on Friday morning.

Hmmm... interesting...

I'm not sure if I believe it yet. I probably wouldn't even play it if it did happen, but I just hope this wouldn't mean that they aren't making another normal ES game

TES online. Hah i told you dad.

Now anyway. I saw this from the start I was just unsure wether Fallout or TES would get it. I assumed TES due to the low age of Fallout players and their level of Immaturity.(Talking about the 10yr olds) Anyway in your face dad. Now wheres that $5 you owe me XD :p

I saw the images, it seems cool so far. :Dragonborn:
I think most of those images were artist renditions, not actual screen shots of the game.

If your bet was that they would publish an online game then he may owe you $5 but if it was that they would publish a successful one that doesn't fall flat on its face and die within a year or so then I wouldn't count the money yet.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking at. That could be an in game screen capture or an artist rendering. There's something that appears to be a watermark in the lower right area of the picture?

Some of the shots that look like they could be in game screenshots look a little odd, as if the particle effects had been airbrushed to look smoother (if they are in fact screenshots).

Well, it is now offically confirmed...

I wonder if this comment I saw on Destructoid will hold true:

THE WHOLE GAME IS BUGS

I won’t be able to play it either way, but I hope it doesn't mean we won’t get another single player game that will improve on Skyrim.

Or these:

"This will be the buggiest game mankind has ever unleashed." - naninani

"All the bugs and glitches with none of the modding community by necessity of a persistent interconnected environment! Truly the best of all possible worlds." - Sonintega

"Calling it now: the launch is going to be a huge mess due to bugs and glitches, followed by weeks of no communication from the support team, then a few patches are released that end up breaking more then they fix, and then it goes free to play a few months after launch due to poor support by Bethesda." - ShadowX

Yeah, that does seem pretty cool, but I'm not a huge fan of MMOs. Nothing against them at all, but I'm... cheap. :) I'm not going to pay, what would only be described as another bill, to play a game I just spent $60.00 on. Plus, server down time and maintenance is irritating. Replay value is zero when the servers finally go offline for good (Ex: Star Wars Galaxy). I like games that I can play without depending on a server. That's just me.

Er, the good news is that this isn’t a Bethesda creation but Zenimax. . . different team. So maybe less bugs.

The "Hitler Reacts" videos are already coming on YouTube! (search for "Elder Scrolls Online Hitler") :D

Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
My problem is how the factions work. And the apparent lack of being able to play as an Imperial.

Seriously, fluff you Bethesda. I don't give a rat's ass if you aren't developing it. You're still slapping your name and the Elder Scrolls name on it, so I'll be holding you asshats solely responsible.

Really I doubt the fears of a bug fest are grounded, they MUST use a different game system altogether???

It's not simply a matter of the game system. There's high standards of quality testing and beta testing and there's substandard quality testing and beta testing. Zenimax Online is an affiliate of Bethesda. They ultimately get the same marching orders regarding when to release the product, regardless of what beta testing may indicate in terms of suitability for release, from Zenimax Media Inc.

One difference is that, unless they are brain dead, the online version will go through a period of no less than several months of closed and open player beta testing, so they wont be able to hide the fact if they decide to launch a bug loaded POS to meet some overhyped release date. This is one reason why MMORPG's are much more vulnerable to early death than single player games. Word of mouth gets out quickly from the beta testing community and will kill an otherwise potentially great game if it's released with lots of bugs with the constructive awareness of the publisher.
