It was announced during Gamescom 2013 that The Elder Scrolls Online (
TESO) will use a
monthly subscription model. According to Matt Firor, GM ZeniMax Online, using any other model would have forced them to make changes and sacrifices that they did thought would hurt the gaming experience. An initial purchase of The Elder Scrolls Online will cost gamers $60 USD. The subscription fee will be $15 per month, with one free month of usage included. There will also be a cash shop available to buy "fun" things that are not integral to the core gameplay.
