sounds like I need to try Helgen reborn some day! Does it interfere with starting a new character somehow?

No it doesn't but you MUST leave the cave with Hadvar/Ralof BEFORE you install the mod. The creator recommends around level 20 is a good place to start the quest (although I did start mine sooner). About ten seconds after you install the mod, a new quest will appear in your journal..just follow the instructions from there.

You wont regret it. It's a fantastic mod. One thing I did find however is that sometimes, when trying to talk to someone, it wouldn't work unless I went through a load screen and came back to them. I don't know it this is a bug, or just the game simply making you wait. But then on his page on Nexus there are fixes for any problems you may come across. In saying that, they are so few and the mod so awesome, I don't really care about a couple of little bugs. Just don't forget to save throughout.

Thanks Sah. I'll have a look at them.

So I was looking for some nicer crossbows and came across Fraction Crossbows Mod. It has unique crossbows for the Companions, Dawnguard, Thieves Guild, Imperial, Stormcloak and Dark Brotherhood.
The Companions Crossbow, called the Nordic Crossbow is really nice and it's the one I wanted for my girl Raven.
Only problem is, is that you can't actually get that crossbow until you have finished the ENTIRE Companions quest line. WTH?? I mean.. what is the point of having a Companions Crossbow if you can't use it until you're done with that quest? Seems to me too little too late.
But then I am stubborn so I am going to finish that quest and get that damned crossbow! I wants eeet!

Update: a couple more mods added...
Apache hair: some nice styles in there. Some I would never use in a lore friendly build. But when I want to have a bit of fun then yeah.

Followers can relax: a nice immersive mod that allows followers free movement when you are in one area for a certain amount of time. More dialogue options allowing you to ask them to pick alchemy ingredients for you. They will sleep, use a cooking pot etc...

Not sure what's it's called but I got one that makes female bodies look nicer, curvier. My girls got boootay!

RaceMenu: Finally one that makes the character creation menu way better. With colour sliders and more indepth options than what the vanilla game gives you. Oh and it gives you about ten slots to save your creations for easy access.

Pure Waters: the name speaks for itself. Subtle but nice mod.

If you want some really nice looking hairs (and a lot of them), Google "KS Hairdos." The file is no longer on Nexus (no surprise there), but you can find it on Lover's Lab, although you might have to create an account in order to download the file(s). I've already used a few of the KS Hairdos on both Arawyn and the Falmer Queen (the Snow Elf lady in my sig):

Some new mods I have installed.
Run for your Lives: as the name suggests, NPC citizens will run away when a dragon attacks. They will either go to their homes, or and Inn or if neither are available, the nearest shelter. Guards, Companions and your followers will stay and fight. Animals wont run either, including your horse.

Real Shelter: Rain or snow.. you want to be able to step under a shelter and not get wet/snowed on, right? well this mod fixes that. In fact, stand under the shelter long enough and it will stop raining/snowing all together.
