Playing through the Companions quests with a pet

Has anyone done this?

I just completed the Companions storyline with Meeko following me the entire time. Some of the main quests will force a human follower to leave you, but apparently a dog can follow your through all the dungeons. I liked imagining that my character could understand Meeko perfectly clear and have full on conversations with him while I was a werewolf!

I assume it will be the same if you take any other pets with you, such as Vigilance, the huskies, trolls and deathdogs from Dawnguard and Dwemer robots from Dragonborn. This could make some interesting role plays.

A Death Hound would be a rather fitting pet for when in werewolf form.
(And I still think CuSith is an awesome name, but I will never side with the Volkihar so I'll never get him.)
